Re: Help setting up android phone

There isn't any setting up, but what I'm trying to establish is that you can login to webmail using the exact same username & password you are using for the mail client.

Re: Help setting up android phone

IN that case you have a stored username & password in your browser. Can you clear those and log in to webmail manually

Re: Help setting up android phone

I've realised my wifes mail is still pop3, but that doesn't help me, still getting nowwhere with K9 or the built in android app. Using:

Get the Accurate Plusnet Email IMAP Settings:

Email Settings Port Number
Plus.net IMAP Incoming mail server:
imap.plus.net/relay.plus.net
993 requires SSL
143, non-secure
Plus.net POP3 Incoming mail server:
pop3.plus.net/relay.plus.net
995, requires SSL
110, non-secure
Plus.net SMTP Outgoing mail server:
smtp.plus.net/relay.plus.net
587/25, requires SSL
465, non-secure

Re: Help setting up android phone

Your wife’s email client can be what you want it to be POP3 or IMAP. This is a client configuration not a server type. Recommendation would be to stick with IMAP.

The server names above are not correct.

IMAP: imap.plus.net
POP3: mail.plus.net
SMTP: relay.plus.net

So to be clear, you have K9 working with your email address and username but it doesnt work with your wifes.

In which case its a username/password problem.

Re: Help setting up android phone

In that case its the username that's wrong.  It should be <plusnet accountname>+<mailboxname>

As I said earlier you can double check that by clearing the browser cached/saved credentials and using the credentials for your wifes mailbox to login to webmail

Re: Help setting up android phone

For the avoidance of doubt, secondary mailboxes user names are accountname+mailbox

If one is using the primary mailbox its is simply accountnane

Re: Help setting up android phone

@woldsweather

I have successfully used Samsung email app in the past.

There is an error with the configuration detailed in your attachment email.jpg

Looking at the bottom of the left half "Require authentication to send emails"

You have added the email address, that should have been accountname+mailbox name

For the primary account the Username would just be the accountname, for the email address I use

accountname@accountname.plus.com
