Re: Plusnet on a black list

Not sure there’s anything we can do about a third party listing your IP address on a black list. Are you having any issues using the service we’re providing?

This is my personal Community Forum account to help out around these parts while I'm at home. If I'm posting from the 1st March 2020, this means I'm off-duty with no access to internal systems.

@Anoush  isnt that IP one of the avasout servers ?

Re: Plusnet on a black list

@Anoush - its not mine, it is, apparently, avasout-peh-004.plus.net

So I sent email (via the plusnet relay) and it was bounced with a message saying that the sender IP was blackisted.

Re: Plusnet on a black list

Thanks a lot for getting back to us @SteveA

Can you please send me a PM with the outgoing email header, as well as the bounceback email header at all?

Re: Plusnet on a black list

SENDER IP address black listing is something quite different from the detail in the OP.

Are you using Plusnet as your ISP / connection to the internet when you encounter this issue?

Re: Plusnet on a black list

@Townman  - I'm on PN, from home, I am sending all email via the outgoing PN email server ( relay.plus.net on port 587).

I sent the email and it came back as not being allowed to deliver because 212.159.14.20 id blacklisted by Abusix.

@adam945 - I'll PM you the headers on the email that came back plus the contents.

Re: Plusnet on a black list

I've checked my IP address and that's also on the blacklist, probably a false positive but you need to get your details deleted or else get a new IP address................

Re: Plusnet on a black list

It is NOT my IP address

212.159.14.20  is avasout-peh-004.plus.net

which is one of PN's servers....

So anyone using relay.plus.net to send email and which routes through avasout-peh-004.plus.net will be bounced if the receiving server uses the abusix black list.

Re: Plusnet on a black list

Doesn't explain why my address is blacklisted as I'm not using relay.plus.net. Just an IP check - could be a whole block of  IP's are being blocked.  In which case Plusnet need to talk to Abusix...........

Re: Plusnet on a black list

(I meant to post this earlier today but it looks like the internal response system we use when posting/messaging on the forums, sent it as a PM instead)

Hi @SteveA

I'm really sorry to see you're having issues sending e-mails.

I've raised a NetOps task with the headers you've given for further investigation.

As soon as we know more, we'll let you know, this should be by the end of the week.

From 31st October 2022, I no longer have a regular presence here as I’ve moved on to a new role.

Re: Plusnet on a black list

Hi @SteveA

I can see the task has been updated to advise that these type of listings normally expire within a week, providing that Abusix don't get further examples, however NetOps had requested an immediate delist yesterday.

Can you check if you're able to send e-mails OK now?

Re: Plusnet on a black list

It didn't always fail - so I'll try sending a few to him and see what happens.

Re: Plusnet on a black list

I am having the same problems.

I run an email gateway for a couple of businesses and whenever I was forwarding personal emails to myself over the relay.plus.net SMTP servers they are never received.

Our logs are full of the following.

NOQUEUE: reject: RCPT from avasout-ptp-003.plus.net[84.93.230.244]: 554 5.7.1 Service unavailable; Client host [avasout-ptp-003.plus.net] blocked using urired.spameatingmonkey.net; listed, see https://spameatingmonkey.com/lookup/plus.net; from=<XXXXXXXX> to=<XXXXXXXXX> proto=ESMTP helo=<avasout-ptp-003.plus.net>

If you go to this link  - https://spameatingmonkey.com/lookup/plus.net

They show the offending emails sent from the plus.net IP's that are causing the blacklisting.
