I have my Globalnet E-Mail address set up on a win 10 pc in 2016 but when I try to replicate it on a win 11 PC today through MZ thunderbird using the same settings and password as before, it will not connect. Already found out Globalnet POP3 e-mail will not connect through MS Outlook ( 2021 Classic) because of security.
The settings are:
POP3 Account
IN: mail.globalnet.co.uk
Incoming Port: 110
OUT: smtp.globalnet.co.uk
Outgoingport: 25
Username t******
Anyone any idea what might be wrong?
E-Mail addresss: t******@globalnet.co.uk

Later email clients will probably insist on encrypted connects, therefore...
- incoming use port 995 with TLS/SSL encryption
- outgoing use port 587 with STARTTLS
Note on out going - port 25 is not the message SUBMISSION port, but that for MX to MX message RELAYING.
In another browser tab, login into the Plusnet user portal BEFORE clicking the fault & ticket links

Tried those settings. Thunderbird response is that those settings are incorrect. Probably have to forego setting up this email on this PC.

Is this a completely new instance of TB? There are instructions on Thunderbird help (somewhere) which tell you how to transfer the profile from one machine to another, which should avoid this problem.
Maybe if he is around @MisterW can help - he did me, about 18 months back.

@FrustratedUser have you tried letting TB determine the settings for you, it will certainly do that to some extent?
Just the other day I installed it on W11 Home and set up 3 accounts that had previously been on a different (very old) email client and it did a good job determining the servers and settings.

The Globalnet Email account on the Win 10 PC is running MS Office (Outlook) 2016. not Thunderbird so that suggestion will not work - but thanks.

Trying to let Thunderbird set the settings was the first thing I tried. Thanks

Use these settings
port 995 for incoming can not be valid as it does not pass a connection test
telnet mail.globalnet.co.uk 995 Connecting To mail.globalnet.co.uk...Could not open connection to the host, on port 995: Connect failed

In that case, from memory it will not work 'modern' TB is a bit like MS Outlook - it makes some incorrect assumptions. There is - or certainly was - an option to manually input the settings, which you need to select for the PN (and legacy) accounts.
