Where am I forwarding my emails to?

Hi all

This is a bit silly of me, but some time ago I am pretty sure I somehow managed to set things up so my plusnet emails also get forwarded to (I think) a gmail address (in case plusnet stopped working for me). The reason I think this is happening is that new emails appear to be "read" soon after arriving in my plusnet in box, and no longer appear as "new", even before I've read them.

The problem is I can no longer remember what gmail address it was!  A bit of a senior moment, and the embarrassment of it is partly why it's taken me so long to ask about it.

Is there any way of telling where my emails are being forwarded to?  I feel that wherever it is, I should probably go and clean it up a bit.
I've had a look in the "manage my mail" section and there aren't any redirects so I'm at a loss as to what I've done.  Can anyone help?

Re: Where am I forwarding my emails to?

Hi @MatthewBest

Not sure what e-mail program you're using, but in Outlook there is a 'rules' facility (centrally at top).

Drop-down options include 'create rule' and 'manage rules + alerts'.

Guessing you might have set up a rule to forward certain e-mails to a specific address (?)

If so, 'manage rules and alerts' should show full details of what's being sent where.

Hope this helps Smiley

Penny.

Re: Where am I forwarding my emails to?

Good suggestion, but no, that's not it  There are no rules in my Outlook, and anyway this is happening before I download emails to Outlook on my computer.  It's happening in PlusNet webmail - new emails arrive, show up in bold (i.e. as "new"), and then soon after that, stop being bold and appear as "read" - all without any of them being downloaded by Outlook.

Re: Where am I forwarding my emails to?

Is your other email client set up as POP3 with "leave on server" set ... and using an IMAP client elsewhere?

POP3 will make things appear to be read when looked at with an IMAP client.

Re: Where am I forwarding my emails to?

This all sounds quite possible, though I'm not entirely sure what it means or how to check (sorry!)

I view my email in three different places: PlusNet's webmail facility, Outlook on my desktop PC, and also on my Iphone.

This morning when I got up I saw that an email had arrived at 02:40 (while I was asleep and the PC was switched off).  It did not appear as "unread" on either webmail or my Iphone - and I haven't yet opened Outlook.  So what is causing it to appear as "read"?  I assume the fact that it's on the Iphone could cause webmail to say it's been read, but why doesn't the Iphone still show it as "unread" since I haven't looked at it?
