Fibre offers

Hi,

Why is it that my neighbours, were they to apply, would be offered 500 mb and 300mb in addition to what I am offered as an existing customer?

Seems very odd.

Re: Fibre offers

A litle more detail would help, @SWANECO , and then maybe we could answer.

Re: Fibre offers

Go to Moneysaving expert  and from the switching  broadband page enter a neighbours house number,

You will be offered 5 speeds by Plusnet, but if you check to see what offers are available as an existing customer you only get three.

The 300meg and 500 are missing.

Re: Fibre offers

I would suggest you call PN - AFAIK, all customers, potential or existing, should be able to order any of the speeds - it is merely a 'flick a switch to select a speed' function by PN.

Re: Fibre offers

Not so, I am only offered 3 speeds as an existing customer but 5 as a new customer.

Try it yourself.

Tried it twice before posting

Re: Fibre offers

Was this by calling in? I would only be offered 'new' customer speeds as I am no longer with PN, but be assured that they should be able to provide all the speeds - it is merely a administrative task for them to set the speed.

Re: Fibre offers

Sorry not sure I can see this....  I am currently a plusnet customer, I went to MSE and looked at "Compare Broadband Deals" it shows me the 300 and 500 mb deals, had to enter my post code but not my house number.   I didn't go any further into the Plusnet system, may be I am looking at the wrong page?

However when I re-joined Plusnet (last month) I am sure that what I was offered through the PlusNet website was dependant on what speeds and prices I had looked at previously.  I had intended to go with a 74Mb FF package @ £24.99 but it didn't seem to be available when I went back to the site to buy, it showed 74Mb and 145Mb FF at the same price of £27.99 - I should have reset my cookies before signing up to the deal.  I don't have the evidence to prove it, but I feel a little aggrieved that I was 'bounced' into buying the 145Mb package because I was shopping around to check prices first...  as I said I wish I had had the sense to delete cookies from my browser before finally going to buy.

Re: Fibre offers

I monitored the "upgrade" full fibre offers on my Dashboard for several  months before decoding to leave Plusnet. There seemed to be constantly shifting variety of offers - sometimes all speeds from 74 to 900, sometimes only a few of those speeds; constant changes to prices, sometimes logical pricing with the price ascending as the speed increased, sometimes not so. I also noted, from posts on these forums, that some Plusnet customers seemed to be seeing different prices from me  for the same speeds.

Finally as I entered my final month in contract I received an email from Plusnet with offers. These were different (and slightly cheaper) than those I could see on the Dashboard . Nevertheless I had by then decided to move to Zen who are served by City Fibre on my street and so their prices for me were almost exactly the same as Plusnet (their speeds are not directly comparable and are symmetric - i.e the download and upload speed are the same). The clincher was that they offer a digital voice package at a very competitive price which allowed me to simply plug my existing analogue phone into their very well specified router with no resulting equipment costs or configuration issues. The router includes an ATA already configured. The City Fibre installation went ahead yesterday and my broadband was instantly on with the telephone number ported over and working about two hours later. My Plusnet account is closed and I await my final bill. So far no regrets.

Re: Fibre offers

Hi,

I think the comment on Plusnet tailoring the reply by use of the cookies to be the answer.

I wish I had read the post concerning Zen and Voip earlier.  My decision to renew with Plusnet was affected by reading the problems people were having changing to Fibre (FFTP) and Voip.  Rather complex and lots of problems.

I like things to be simple and straightforward.  Not an unreasonable requirement.

Hopefully OTS , due in September will sort this out.

To be honest if I had the opportunity today to switch without large early leaving fees I would follow jgb's lead.
