Is the speed right or is it a wide guess

I live in the countryside in Wales - In the past the house had a phone line, and when we moved in, I investigated broadband using the old copper cables I was told 1Mbps up and down.

In the last few weeks, we have had Openreach installing new telegraph poles, and the engineer said I could get fast fibre broadband.

When I look to order this on Plusnet it says to download 1 to 3 Mbps

If this is true I'll stick with my 10mbps 3g connection  - or is it just using the old values

Re: Is the speed right or is it a wide guess

Hi SunnyBank,
The BT wholsale availability checker reports what is available over Openreach.
https://www.broadbandchecker.btwholesale.com/#/ADSL
Enter your phone number.
In the resulting report, look for WBC FTTP in the left hand column.
If you see FTTP on demand that is not the same and costs £1000's to be installed.
It often takes weeks or months for WBC FTTP to becomve available to order after Openreach install the fibres.
It all has to be connected to the exchange, tested and comissioned before it is ready to be ordered.
Regards
Richard
