Keep PN broadband after porting BT 'phone number to ITSP.

I currently use broadband from Plusnet and an ITSP for telephone calls. Incoming calls to the existing BT landline number come in from BT. In order to keep this number (post digital voice - which I don't need) I would like to port it to the ITSP.

Can I do this without risking my Plusnet broadband service?. I know that this would cease a BT internet service but is Plusnet broadband similarly tied to the BT telephone number?. If so, can/will Plusnet handle this?

Whilst there is a number associated with the VOIP cervice, I really would like to keep the "old" number which people already know and use.

You will need to get Plusnet to take over the line and convert it to sogea. This is a data only line. Once you know the day of completion you can covert your line to VOIP. Ideally a day or two after conversion or anytime within 30 days. It will mean some downtime but at least u keep the number

@tp

NO - you must sort out your PN internet first.

As stated you "upgrade" your account to a SOGEA line, which is internet only. Once official confirmation is received you can move your phone number to a VOIP account  - you have 30 days to do so but sooner rahter than later is always best. There will probably be some down time on the phone.

If the ITSP does not offer a VOIP service you will need to find a provider for phone only.

What does ITSP stand for?

@RobPN

No idea - the OP used it so I presume it means something to them.
