PlusNet are categorising my website as adult content and need to unblock it

Hi,

Am posting this in the hope someone called Bobpullen will see this and help me as I know he has helped other users before with getting their websites re-categorised as my design studio website has been categorised as pornographic which is obviously not the case.

My website is here www.houseofminerva.com - can someone help me with this please, as I'm trying to launch it and it looks super unprofessional!

Hi @kerrywhee

I have access to the site in your post with no issues, have you enabled safeguard on your plusnet account?

I don't have a plusnet account, I've had notifications from people trying to access my website who use plusnet saying it's been blocked as it's been categorised as pornography?

If they have Safeguard switched on, have they tried adding the website into the whitelist?

From 31st October 2022, I no longer have a regular presence here as I’ve moved on to a new role.

This isn’t overly helpful when I have potential new clients trying to access my website that I might not know about who have SafeGuard on. I need PlusNet to put my website on their overall safe list if that is a thing or change the category of my website to not being pornographic because it isn’t.

@kerrywhee

I would be helpful if one of your potential customers contacts plusnet directly so the appropriate questions can be asked of them. This will hopefully assist everyone to diagnose where the issue lies.

Safeguard being used is one of a few possibilities for the root cause to this issue.

Re: PlusNet are categorising my website as adult content and need to unblock it

There’s no way that I can ask someone to do this as it’s far too time consuming and also far too unprofessional.

Is there no way that this can be worked around or does anyone know the right part of PlusNet that I can contact to sort this out myself?

Re: PlusNet are categorising my website as adult content and need to unblock it

@kerrywhee Looking at your site, IF it is classed as 'pornographic' - which as you say, it isn't - then @bobpullen is probably the best person to get it re-classified.

Now I have tagged him properly, hopefully he will take a look.

Re: PlusNet are categorising my website as adult content and need to unblock it

https://tools.zvelo.com/  has your website classified as porn so it’s not a Plusnet problem.

I’d guess that you need to talk to either your hosting company or the person who submitted your site to the Internet.

Re: PlusNet are categorising my website as adult content and need to unblock it

I am the person who submitted my site to the internet, I built it. And have spoken to Squarespace who host it and they say it’s not to do with them as it’s passing all security etc their end.

Other internet providers don’t have a problem with it being opened, so it’s definitely a PlusNet problem.

@kerrywhee  - if @Dan_the_Van  can access it, the issue is not so clear cut - he is a Plusnet customer.

Strange, Zvelo is now categorising the site as :  Marketing Services..

For info I’m on a Plusnet connection and having no problems.

Re: PlusNet are categorising my website as adult content and need to unblock it

I've just tried to access it from my work connection and zScaler (which my work use for filtering) is also classifying it as porn.  I don't know how Plusnet's Safegaurd categorises websites. but zScaler can work on URLs, IP Addresses and IP Ranges, so it could be your website, other websites that the host has on the same server as you, or other servers your host has in the same IP range as the server your website is on.

Regardless, your issue is wider than just Plusnet.  You can see just from here that 3 different services are categorising it in the same way.

Superusers are not staff, but they do have a direct line of communication into the business in order to raise issues, concerns and feedback from the community.
