Would it please be possible to have the PTR record for the broadband connection to not have my Plusnet username?
The IP address has been the same for many years. It looks like a static IP. Can you please confirm that is the case and if it could be changed to a random IP each time the router restarts?
Fixed! Go to the fix.

@paul1974 you can easily check if its a true static IP, an nslookup of the IP address should return <accountname>.plus.com. If it returns something like ...dyn.plus.net then its not a static IP.
PTR records can only be changed on a true static IP and further more I'm afraid its no longer possible to request a new static IP
Superusers are not staff, but they do have a direct line of communication into the business in order to raise issues, concerns and feedback from the community.

If you have a dynamic IP address they are allocated from a local pool and tend to be quite sticky. Consequently, there's no guarantee that a router restart will pick up a new address. The best chance you have is if you leave the router off for several hours and hope that some-one else picks up your last address.

I can see you've had a static IP since 2016. If you're wanting the IP to change each time your router restarts, you're best off requesting to remove it and go on a dynamic IP as this would also mean your username won't show in the PTR record.
Although bear in mind that as @Baldrick1's explained, dynamic IPs can be sticky and may not always change, plus you won't be able to get a static again if you remove it as we no longer sell them.
If you're wanting to keep the static IP and just remove the username, the support team should be able to arrange this.

Thanks. The PTR record is username.plus.com.

Thanks for the responses.
Can I raise a ticket with Plusnet through the web or do I need to call them? I don't need a static IP anymore. I think this was done to try and resolve an issue at the time and was never reverted.
