Re: Unable to access one website

@markcaldwell83

It is annoying, after being asked which DNS you're using by a plusnet support member they appear to have ignored this thread.

Maybe a superuser @MisterW or @Townman can escalate the issue to the network team?

Unless the ZEN DNS servers are public facing I doubt they will resolve anything, for me using one of the IP addresses you quoted

This confused me as changing the windows network settings to Zen DNS servers most sites still worked.

File this under "Things I should have known but didn't"

Apparently Windows holds 3 DNS entries. 2 manual & 1 from the DCHP settings, which may be 2.

Therefore in my example by manually changing to Zen DNS, site lookups would fail but moving onto the DHCP entries could be successful.

Re: Unable to access one website

In the first case I would always use "nslookup" as this way you can specify the DNS server to use (local or something else)

File this under "Things I should have known but didn't"

I've filed this under "Things I knew once but have forgot about" Old age thing!

 I don’t subscribe to that theory…..

Getting back on topic - anyone heard anything that could help @markcaldwell83 ‘s problem ?

nslookup www.pkbstatus.com

Address: 212.159.6.9

*** cdns01.plus.net can't find www.pkbstatus.com: Non-existent domain

nslookup pkbstatus.com

Non-authoritative answer:

My broswer finds the website 'unreachable' to www.pkbstatus.com and pkbstatus.com. My browser is using default DNS.

telnet pkbstatus.com 80

Re: Unable to access one website

Seems to be resolving fine now from both sets of PN DNS servers and the Safeguard ones

Re: Unable to access one website

Thanks all, is there anything I can check at my end or do I need plusnet support to step in?

Ah! my bad I'm afraid, I was checking the bare domain pkbstatus.com

@Champnet is correct , www.pkbstatus.com still doesnt resolve using the PN DNS servers

Hi all, I have no idea why but it's working on Chrome.

Thank you for all the support, another mystery I guess!
