Re: 900mbit Speed Drop

@LeoX

If you do buy the tester suggested, don't forget to test the "patch" cables you are going to use, before adding in the permanent cabling to be tested. 😉

When I bought one I was so keen to try it out that I forgot the "obvious" first step - and spent a while scratching my head before realising my mistake! 😀

Re: 900mbit Speed Drop

@LeoX

Is it Cat5 or Cat5e?

Cat5e is rated at the same speed as Cat6 - it's just the latter can handle more capacity due to better shielding causing less interference.

Re: 900mbit Speed Drop

I had Cat5e but I went to Screwfix and bought another Cat6 cable just in case.

Re: 900mbit Speed Drop

I don't want to speak too soon, but I think I( might have fixed it and identified problematic cables etc. I just ran a test using two different computers but using different ethernet port and have identified a problematic cable I think. I'll see if the speed remains up, but I THINK I may have figured it. I'll have to see how it plays out...

Thanks for all the advices! And wish me luck with it staying like it is! Haha.
