Full fibre availability- confused

I live in rural Norfolk. When I check my bt exchange it is not down as a priority for Fttp.i assumed vdsl 80mb was the best I could expect

I got a letter today from County Broadband who can offer me full fibre by upgrading the connection from the  cabinet to  my home.  How can they do that if the exchange is not equipped to offer  service ?

@the_groundsman

I believe County Broadband are an Alternative FTTP supplier who have their own network. As such, they don't use OpenReach. Check their website for details.

@the_groundsman

The BT checker gives you the services available fron BT. County Broadband run their own independant fibre network, see   https://countybroadband.co.uk/is-your-network-connected-to-bt/

Edit @bmc types faster than me.

Thanks.

Their letter suggested they used the same cabinet and open reach  infrastructure.

What cabinet? Do they also offer a FTTC service? Read the link referenced above.

Re: Full fibre availability- confused

From @Baldrick1 's link

How long will it take to GET REAL?

Before we start building, we need to ensure there is sufficient demand for REAL FIBRE. We will conduct a five month awareness and sales phase to generate the interest required to build the network. After this, it takes several months to lay our REAL FIBRE cables. All in all, the whole programme takes around a year to build from start to finish, with a connection period of a few months after the build is completed. We’ll keep you up to date on progress as we run the project in your town.

Sounds like they're in the first phase, 'let's see if there's enough interest in the area to make it worth our while' ?

Re: Full fibre availability- confused

The cabinet shown in the drawing on the left will be Openreach's existing cabinet. The one in the drawing on the right will be County Broadband's, (it won't exist yet)
