Second attempt to move to FTTP queries

Thanks . The last time openreach looked at it they indicated it might just need to sucked out using some machine they have . It’s a total pain . Even more annoying that my neighbours can just use the pole but this is apparently a non starter for my house

Agreed, a blocked duct can be a pain in the **** but from what you say you might get lucky and it's a quick fix. As you say, specialised machinery is erquired to try and clear the duct before digging is tried.

If you want FTTP then you're going to have to bite the bullet one day and just go for it.

I had this two years ago, with my house.  Basically, I live in one of 4 terraced houses, and in front of these houses, there are drives and garages.  Openreach tried to install the fibre cabling, but they couldn't thread the fibre through, because of a blocked duct that they thought had been caused by a water company fixing drains on one of the 4 houses drive.  Anyway, Openreach had returned earlier this week (after two years) to try again with our neighbours and found the problem was somewhere else, and managed to fix it and thread the fibre cabling through (just after I had agreed to a new 18-month contract).  I rang up Plusnet, and they'll transfer me penalty-free to EE.

@bmc Yes, I live with my parents, but I pay for the broadband and phone line. They want to keep the phone line.

While you could have stayed with PN and transferred the phone number to an independant VOIP provider moving to an integrated supplier is the easiest (if not the cheapest) way to do it.

If needed for power cuts, you'll need to organize backup power for the ONT, router and any Dect phone unit you have.

@bmc just easier for me, every guide I've looked at trying to transfer to a VOIP provider has just confused me.  Not that fussed about during power cuts, they happen very little here.
