Speed is okay, but seems to take a while to open pages, etc

Hi,

I know this sounds a bit strange, but I'm noticing a few oddities. Let me start by saying the connection is reasonably solid, and I get as good a speeds as I've ever had if not better.

However, I do a lot of FTPing and even when it's a folder of small files it seems to take a longer than expected time to move between files. They download fast enough, but it seems to lag going from one file to another. This isn't a new release of an FTP client, and it seems to be consistently laggy across different servers that I connect to.

Sometimes I also notice web pages seem to take a while from the point of clicking a URL to the point where the browser starts to bring down the content.

I note my Hub One updated in October to 4.7.5.1.83.8.289.1.3 - Hard to say if it's been like that since then or not, but something feels different about the whole connection. Different devices too. It even feels like Netflix and iPlayer seem to lag before a TV show starts.

Any suggestions gratefully received.

Cheers,

Mark.

Hey @markos

Thanks a lot for getting in touch and I'm sorry to hear about the issues that you're having with your service at the moment. While we can't test ping on our side, everything else, as you've said, appears to be fine.

Are you using the Plusnet Hub One? If so, are your devices connected wirelessly or are they wired up to the router?

Re: Speed is okay, but seems to take a while to open pages, etc

Thank you for the response.

Yes, it’s a PN Hub One. We have a number of devices and the desktop PC which I predominantly use during the day (I’m a PHP Developer) is hard wired to an access point, which in turn is hard wired to the PN Hub One. As a test I’ve removed the access point and taken the Ethernet cable directly to the desktop PC (so it’s hardwired directly to the Hub One). But it’s still the same.

We’ve got various other devices that are wired and wireless. I don’t see a pattern that favours or fails either wired or wireless.

Hiya @markos, thanks for getting back to us and confirming the steps you have tried. I am sorry for the issues with your service!

It looks like your connection has been up for 55 days with no drops, so may just be worth rebooting and see if this makes any difference.

Let us know how you get on.
