Very Inconsistent Fiber speeds

Ive experienced really bad performance recently with my mbps as lower than 2.

recently ( a month ago ) went from Fiber to Unlimited Fibre Extra.

Min guaranteed speeds are apparently 41-66 but i am yet to see over 30.

Normally its in the mid 20's

when i check my account on PlusNet
The estimated download range, upload range and min speed state as "not available"

Ive included a speedtest.btwholesale.com test screen shot.
one shows 26.46 and half an hour later another 2.15
Speed tested over Ethernet
Honestly no idea what to do.
I use zoom for work and its too unreliable at the moment.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Milo

Re: Very Inconsistent Fiber speeds

Welcome to the forums, @MULSK . Those two speed tests prove you have a massive problem - somewhere.

As you have kindly posted those, can you also post the result of BT Broadband  - obscuring your phone number, your hubs Helpdesk page - obscuring personal details, and the WAN tab of your Event log, please.  This may give us an idea of where the problem are.

Re: Very Inconsistent Fiber speeds

@MULSK From that information, Milo, as far as I can see, you have a BT network issue, as VDSL (fibre) should be stable for a long, long time. Unfortunately, I'm only a Community member without access to any Plusnet data, but now you have posted, hopefully one of the PN Help team will run some tests and if we are lucky, provide the Radius graph and GEA test results, at least.

Unfortunately, you have posted late on a Sunday, so it may be tomorrow before they pick this up.

Wish I could have told you just to reboot the Hub and all would be well, but that will not be the case. Leave everything as it is - DO NOT attempt any reboots/restarts of the Hub, and leave it powered up.

Any more questions and I'll be around until roughly 2130.

Re: Very Inconsistent Fiber speeds

Thanks John

Its more or less stable at the moment.
So Im not in a mad panic.

But I am looking forward to some one from PN having a look.

Cheers

Re: Very Inconsistent Fiber speeds

@MULSK

You are one of the lucky ones with FTTP available. I know that it costs more but why not move into the 21st century and transfer up to that? You will have to leave Plusnet but they will waive the cancellation charges if you talk to them and go to BT or EE.

Re: Very Inconsistent Fiber speeds

Really sorry to hear about your poor speeds @MULSK Sad

You're right, the line is syncing well below your MGS - currently coming in at 31.3 Mbps , so the speeds on your devices will likely be in the 20s.

Anyway, I've run some tests on the line from my end and have found a fault with the phone line, and on the broadband service. Given that your broadband pretty much piggybacks on the phone line, I've raised a phone fault with Openreach that we're hoping to have addressed / resolved by 20/10/2021.

If the problems persist with your broadband afterwards, please let us know, though I'm confident that the phone fault being resolved will sort this problem out. Smiley

I've created an open Fault ticket on the account which you can both view and comment on for direct communication with our Technical Support Team here.

Re: Very Inconsistent Fiber speeds

@MULSK You have a challenge there with your speeds but I'm confident that @adam945 will get you back to speed soon as the PN guys are great 🙂

It's nice that @jab1 was so supportive too 🙂

However, @Baldrick1  makes a good point for the future, that's worth considering at some stage.
