and what the initial charge and subsequent hourly rate is (also whether it is per squad or per engineer as it will require two engineers)

well they will have to take the line down, sit back drink tea, have lunch, wait for the facing to be fitted, find a drill to get the screw in, reconnect, may be check that the have joined the wire correctly, write up their sheets and Whoppeee

Surely they'll just put a new bracket in on the brickwork and move the line over.
Based on when they did mine that will take about 5 minutes. 
(I also got a new drop-wire which took about 20 minutes to do as it included going up a pole across the road, pulling the new cable over and connecting it in)

If the fascia accidentally "fell off", taking all your BT wiring with it, wouldn't it need repairing?

Time related charges are £100 for the call out (including first hour), and then £65 per hour or part thereof after.

It'd be cheaper to get some tins of spray paint, yank the cable out n deface your house in the middle of the change of the facia "while your out"
does not sound good oldjim.. =/ Have you spoken to the company doing the fitting? surely they could work around it?

I've got a similar problem.... need phone line moving off soffit to do some roof work. According to Plusnet, you are allowed to move it yourself.... doesn't seem right to me, thought we would be open to a fine for touching BT equipment?

BT Should come out and move it for free - it should never have been attached to the soffit or fascia board.
Phone lines should be attached to the masonry, and there is no excuse for attaching to the woodwork. (If there was a height/clearance issue, they should have used a swan-neck bracket attached to the masonry.)

I'm getting confirmation on the correct process and whether or not charges apply for moving lines connected to woodwork.

The line between the test socket (or master socket if there is no test socket) is BT's property and hence you cannot modify it in any way.

Openreach will be busy in my road resiting off fascia boards as most are connected in this way. The road has only 1200 or so houses

Mand has confirmed for me that this is a chargeable visit @ £100 for the first hour, £65 for subsequent hours and can be arranged via raising a ticket.
