Will plusnet provide a voip landline service?

So that means installing a new service then transferring the landlines to voip causing the old service to be terminated.

Will plusnet allow two provisions on one account?

Of course they could allocate a temporary number to the fttc service if the number got ported away.

No, but you can have two accounts at the same address. The downside is that some legacy facilities like email, domains, referals cant be transferred to the new account.

What you are looking for is SOGEA - the provision of copper borne broadband without a voice service.  Sone ISPs do supply SOGEA services, but Plusnet does not.  It will be interesting to see how this space evolves as the demise of PTSN arrives ... and FTTP in some areas does not.

Keeping the copper connection infers that you want to stay on ADSL/FTTC ... in which case, what is the imperative of moving the phone number to VoIP now?  Under the new Ofcom rules, numbers are supposed to be "retained" for 31 days after a migration to FTTP to allow migration to VoIP.

According to ISPReview, Openreach currently plans to stop selling all analogue phone lines to new customers by 5th September 2023.

That is just over 3 months away. I assume that will allow existing services to continue but no new lines to be installed - so I'd expect it to be possible to renew an existing contract (at least until PSTN is withdrawn, which will be complete by the end of 2025)

Beyond that, Plusnet are going to need a plan - and to tell customers what it is!

To be clear, where FTTP is not available, even after PTSN is switched off, it will be possible to get SOGEA connections over ADSL or FTTC ... if the ISP offers those products.

The 2025 timeline refers to the cessation of the voice PTSN service, which should not be confused with the total withdrawal of copper circuits for data only (where FTTP is not available).  The full implementation of FTTP is not planned to be completed this side of 2030.

Quite right. My concern was not with removal of copper, it was the PSTN stop-sell for  new connections - which apparently is only 3 months away.

Without VoIP Plusnet won't be able to sell any phone service to new customers (no landline and no mobile).

One suspects that BT Consumer Division is marginalising Plusnet into a broadband connect only business, so no voice services would fit that segmentation.

Looking at the current mainstream TV advertising - 

BT and EE. Better as one.

Not seen Plusnet Joe on the TV in a good while.

I've just been speaking to Retentions and was offered renewal of my broadband extra but without phone service.

I did ask if that now means I would be able to port my number to a SIP provider without cancelling my contract, but unfortunately the csa wasn't sure, and although he did try to ask a another agent by internal message, he couldn't get a reply.

I suspect someone may have their wires crossed.  Are you sure it was broadband but without a phone 'plan'?

Because unless somethings changed recently with PN, if you haven't you've got FTTP (Full Fibre), your phone line is required to carry your Internet service.

I spoke to 2 different csa's, first yesterday when the renewal offer was suggested. They offered broadband extra with phone as I have now, or for £2 less broadband extra without phone.

When I called back today to go ahead with broadband and phone (not enoough time to let everyone know re loss of phone)

I did ask the second agent to confirm this new system, and they agreed it was possible.

MY BB Contract is due to end next month (67Mb fttc) is due to end next month.  Started as £24 / month with phone,  about £28 now due to go to £54.

After about 20 years with PN, I'll get FTTP installed with Zen in parallel, migrate the phone to sipgate and get thrown out of plusnet.

I really can't be arsed to renegotiate with retentions when the strings are being pulled by bean counters jn London, not yorkshiremen in check shirts.

Apparently there has been a "soft" introduction of SOGEA for EXISTING users renewing OVER THE TELEPHONE.

SOGEA is broadband only (no voice service) over full (ADSL) or part (FTTC) copper circuits.

No, not quite. SOTAP/SOADSL is the ADSL version, SOGEA or SOG.Fast are higher speed versions of broadband only services.
