Bill nearly double!

I received an email on the 25th March stating my contact ends on the 26th April. I've been with Plusnet for years. The email says after my contact ends, my bill will be £58.69 per month. There was no date on the email stating when I need to renew by, so assumed I had until the 26th April.
On the 2nd April I received an email saying my bill will be £62.44!! payable on the 9th April. I'm not out my contact yet and why did it go from £58.69 (which says includes the year price rises) to £62.44?? We don't use a landline (though we pay line rental) so can't incur extra charges.
Disappointed there is no email or live chat to contact anyone. Not everyone can use a phone or have the time to be on hold.
I sent a message through Facebook, but no reply. I will cancel my direct debit until the matter is looked at as I can't afford to be paying nearly an extra £30!

Re: Bill nearly double!

Thats ridiculous, must be some error by billing dept.

I would have assumed you would be able to renew contract up until old one finished.

Maybe different if you were swithcing to another provider, think you must give 2 weeks notice.

Call them up, to be honest i'm always got through very quickly. And the customers service and mor knowledgeable and truthful than some other providers i had dealings with recently!

Re: Bill nearly double!

@NBClarke2302  So according to your other thread you renewed your contract on the 2nd of April is that the case? Yet you say you are not out of contract until the 26th of April. Could you clarify what is going on.

Re: Bill nearly double!

My contract ends 26th April. I renewed on the 2nd April (£29.99) when they sent me my £60+ bill for 2nd April to 1st May. Very expensive for 5 days over my contact!

Re: Bill nearly double!

@NBClarke2302

I believe bills are generated 7 days in advance of the Billing date and may not take into account contract renewels / upgrades. Usually the bill sorts itself out the following month.

However, this one does seem a bit strange. If you Login to your Members page you'll be able to see the Bill is detail and see what you've been charged for.

Doesn't really help this month though when I'm nearly £30 down then the rest of the lovely April bill rises 😩 Who needs to eat anyway 😆

Re: Bill nearly double!

Hey @NBClarke2302,

I have reviewed your most recent bill and noticed that it did not include any discounts. This might be because the bill was generated before your contract became active. However, this issue should be corrected on your next bill, with the difference refunded on a pro-rata basis. To ensure everything is accurate, I will check back up on your account once the new bill is generated.

I would suggest that cancelling your Direct Debit is not a good idea as that can lead to default notices and may affect your credit rating.

If you cannot hold on till the next bill is sorted you can invoke the Direct debit Guarantee.
