Re: Domain Name Transfer

You'll need to wait for one of the help team to pick this up and raise a 'ticket' for you to reply to and specify the details for the IPSTAG change. It will then take 2 to 3 days for the change to be implemented by Netops.

Superusers are not staff, but they do have a direct line of communication into the business in order to raise issues, concerns and feedback from the community.

Re: Domain Name Transfer

Is it worth ringing support rather than waiting for it to be picked up?

Re: Domain Name Transfer

You could try, but domain hosting is a legacy facility and not many front line CSC staff will know anything about it. If you're lucky you may get someone who knows what it is and how to raise the Netops request, but Im afraid its unlikely...

Re: Domain Name Transfer

Just going through the same exercise. Support sent a request to the network team on 13 April. Sadly no news so far, so I phoned support today and Donna raised another request.

As its a .co.uk and PN is the registrant, I am expecting that following the change of tag the new host will pick up the transfer request, and return a message back to PN which gives a link to complete the transfer, and then I hope PN send me that link so I can complete the transfer and pay the new host. Await support to follow up on Monday if nothing has moved

That's not quite how it works. You first request the transfer in from the new registrar. They tell you the IPSTAG value. You request PN change the IPSTAG, as soon as its changed, the new registrar sees it and the transfer is complete.

Re: Domain Name Transfer

Seems to be the way that the host wants to do it

Transfer your domain

  1. On your computer, sign in to the registrar of the domain that you want to transfer.
  2. Follow the registrar's transfer out instructions for .co.uk and .uk domains.
  3. As the transfer destination, enter or select GOOGLE.
  4. Check the registrant's email for a message from Google Domains. In the email, click on Cancel or approve transfer. This will open the Google Domains product web page to complete the transfer process.
  5. Click Continue.
  6.  To complete the transfer, complete the steps to import your web settings and configure your registration settings.

So I need the email from step 4 to get me into the transfer completion stage

Re: Domain Name Transfer

Trust google to be different. They seem to be saying they will email you when they see the ipstag change to Google. You then confirm the transfer.

Re: Domain Name Transfer

No, you are the registrant, Plusnet are the registrar

Re: Domain Name Transfer

OK, I was under the misapprehension that when PN acted to register the domain, they also put themselves down as the registrant, I couldn't find that information anywhere (data privacy), so if its me then that makes things easier. Thanks

Re: Domain Name Transfer

One of the PN staff picked this up for me pretty instantly and fingers crossed the transfer is now in motion. Hopefully it should be resolved early next week and I can get 365 set up and get back to running my business. It's been an emotional journey and something I hopefully won't have to do for another 3 years!

Nightmare not understanding what you're doing when it affects a running business but I guess I can add IT guy to my CV as well as MD and brush pusher 😂

Can't thank the PN staff enough for advising and getting this done so far. Like @MisterW says it could be hit and miss dealing with the frontline staff but in their defence they were dealing with someone who didn't have a clue what they were doing, still advised and raised a ticket, also answered the phone pretty promptly which is a lot better than the other providers that I've been dealing with during this process.
