Re: Re-contracting on existing FTTC servive

If i contact Plusnet and ask to move to SOGEA, the landline will cease and i have 30 days to transfer my number to another provider like A&A.

Would there be a price difference between renewing now as is and changing to SOGEA?

Of course i would have to pay for the number transfer and phone line with the other provider.

How far can i click through on the renewal before actually committing, to see what other info is there?

@Bella123

Call the PlusNet Customer Options Team on 0800 013 2632 to discuss your options.

If you want to keep your number while moving to SOGEA you need to know what you'll be doing for VOIP ie which provider will you move the number to and what their requirements are.

You do not port your number after you move to SOGEA.

@Bella123  if you do call Plusnet to upgrade from FTTC to SOGEA, be careful to understand the Plusnet terminology.

The Plusnet product name for SOGEA is "Fibre" - this is FTTC without phone using copper wires and is NOT "Full Fibre"

For example -

Plusnet 40Mb fibre.png

Whereas the "Full Fibre" products that you are trying to avoid have names like this -

I currently use A&A VoIP and the service has been perfect, great value, and having call recordings emailed to me is handy.

My second choice would have been Voipfone, who have been market leader for years, and still look good.

Others worth investigating would be VoIPify and freeola

Where did you get that 'fibre' option screenshot?

When i go on plusnet (without signing in), enter my postcode it only shows FF options.

Maybe not available in my area?

I have a vague recollection that what you are presented with, depends whether you are still in your contract period or not.

You could prove whether SOGEA is available to you.

Visit https://www.broadbandchecker.btwholesale.com/#/ADSL , put in your phone number

In the results table, find the line named "VDSL Range A (clean)",

the most right hand column "WBC SOGEA Availability" should say "Available".

I went to https://www.plus.net/broadband/broadband-without-landline/

then put in my neighbour's address (who doesn't have broadband)

and we don't have Openreach Full Fibre here yet.

You currently have FTTC.

FTTC = SOGEA + phone service

SOGEA = FTTC - phone service

Therefore if you opt to remove the phone service from your FTTC, you get SOGEA.

Check for yourself, as per instruction in Reply #38.

@bmc

I suspect either you need to remove the "do not" or add "until".
