Renewing my contract- checking I don't pay last month twice

Hello,
I am on my last month of 18mth contract - I am due to pay for last month in 3 days time (23/07). However I just renewed my 18mth contract. It says it will start on 22/07. I am worried that I will be billed twice for this month. I thought they normally start new contracts at the end of the old?
I like to correct this if this is the case, as it wrong to pay twice.
I am hard of hearing so I cannot use their telephone service nor I use BSL - why has the chat function with support disappeared?

I like to correct this if this is the case, as it wrong to pay twice.
@juPill you won't pay twice.
You are billed a month in advance so in your case if your billing date is the 23rd July and your new contract starts on the 22nd July, the 23rd July bill will include:
1) a refund at the old contract rate for the period 22 July to 23 July
2) a charge at the new contract rate for the period 22 July to 23 July
3) a charge for the next month from 23 July at the new contract rate
NB at least that's what should happen. Sometimes there can be problems in that discounts for the new contract don't get applied immediately and the follwing month should correct any overcharge
Superusers are not staff, but they do have a direct line of communication into the business in order to raise issues, concerns and feedback from the community.

As @MisterW says that is what should happen. However, there is a possibility that your bill on 23 July will not reflect your new contract at all as bills are prepared some days in advance of the billing date (I have seen 7 days quoted). If that happens, all should be sorted out on your next billing date on 23 August.

@juPill You won't be charged twice. The new one overrides the old one.
