Static IP rDNS name change request

Hello!

I have recently just enabled my static IP address and the hostname is "someone elses" username.plus.com (I know this will eventually switch over to my username but I would like to request to change the rDNS to <staticip>.plus.com please.

Thank you

Re: Static IP rDNS name change request

@jaydee001  it should certainly not be "someone else's" username.plus.com, it has to be your username. What makes you think it will switch to your user name.

You need to query this with Plusnet support as it is incorrect, it looks like they have set up a static IP on the wrong account.

Re: Static IP rDNS name change request

Clearly it has been someone else's static IP. So I'm assuming it will take up to 24 hours to fully update to show it's mine... Either that or I've been given the wrong IP address we shall see

Hi @jaydee001

It looks like you've removed the static IP now?

Let us know if you still need this sorting

After the 3rd of November I will have a limited presence here as I have moved to a new role

Re: Static IP rDNS name change request

Hi Matthew,

Thank you for getting back to me. This is a strange one...

I enabled the static IP and noticed that my download speeds dropped from 940MB to 700MB (Upload speeds stayed the same at 110MB) - But was very noticeable during speed tests and downloading a few games from Steam (Ooklas, Wifiman, Google & Fast.com.)  I know this sounds crazy as its still a good speed but I'm a firm believer of paying for what I should get lol

I have enquired about this before (Through X.com support) and the support agent wasn't able to determine what was causing the speeds to drop.

I use a 3rd party ASUS AX6000 (2.5GB lan & 2.5GB WAN port) both running at 2.5GBPS and I also tried the PlusNet supplied Hub 2 router to eliminate that my equipment was the culprit and both speeds were lower.
