15 Companies offering me 1gig download!

and Plusnet isn't one of them.

Why? How can Plusnet be so useless as to not offer the upgrade? I keep getting the same excuse, not in your area, private road. Can someone tell me why I should stay with a company that is this bad? FIFTEEN companies can do it (Including Vodaphone and Zen (who I have been with before)) , why not Plusnet?

24meg isn't a modern day internet connection speed and I'm probably above some people on here so I'd hate to have their experience!

I like Plusnet, been with them for years, they have my broadband and phone line but I'm now just about done with them 😕

What's the excuse?

What does https://www.broadbandchecker.btwholesale.com/#/ADSL say for your phone number? Don't show your number on the screenshot.

That's the screen, literally three houses on my road are getting FTTP now (including the next door neighbour)

Re: 15 Companies offering me 1gig download!

If they are getting FTTP, you should be, providing BT have laid the cables. If other ISPs can offer  it over the BT infrastructure it would suggest that BTs records are incorrect for your address. This needs staff intervention.

EDIT Which exchange are you on?

@richmc   who laid the fibre? Presumably not Openreach therefore PN will not be able to offer you fibre.

Re: 15 Companies offering me 1gig download!

@Mustrum If Zen are offering it, it should be BT cable, as they use the BT infrastructure.

EDIT Unless of course it is CityFibre - their other partner.

A fair few unknowns of course but yeah Zen on the list as well as Vodaphone. I mean to me it's irrelevant really as Plusnet should be able to offer it (with BT backing) if anyone else is. A shame really, never had a big problem with plusnet but they are proving to be hopeless now

@jab1  the companies mentioned also use other Fibre providers including City fibre and others. Chances are if it is a rural location it may be a locally funded project.

Re: 15 Companies offering me 1gig download!

@jab1 @richmc

Am I reading that screenshot incorrectly? To me it looks like only FTTP on Demand is currently available there, which is not the same as FTTP being generally available is it?

The BT Wholesale checker for me says that I can also get FTTP on Demand (if I wanted to pay all of the construction costs), but that only has information about the Openreach network.

Here in Milton Keynes I can currently get FTTP now from any of 13 providers, (including Vodaphone and Zen that you mentioned) - via the CityFibre network.

OP - are you sure that you are not getting mixed up between providers who use the Openreach network and those that supply via the CityFibre, (or other), fibre network?

@richmc  your speeds are well below those expected, why have you not progressed that?

@richmc

What part of the country are you in - which city or nearest large town?

Try putting your post code in here and see if you are on the CityFibre network:     https://cityfibre.com/

Have BT laid the Fibre cables - you are not showing as a Fibre Priority exchange on that screenshot?

@Mr_Paul

Could be Cityfibre yeah, which I would be quite happy with. But again, Plusnet is pretty much BT and they can't do it?

In York mate Smiley
