The migration happens on Thursday, just three working days.
I thought (not least as an anti slamming measure) the minimum period was 10 working days ?
Have things changed, or is the 10 day rule just an urban myth ?
Fixed! Go to the fix.

It WAS ten days when I last migrated my broadband and landline phone in August 2023,
however that system has been replaced with OTS "One Touch Switching" in September 2024,
so now ISP switching can be as fast as the next day !

I'd said to my son to go ahead and sign up with Plusnet, imagining I'd be reconfiguring his router in a couple of weeks, and not the day I get back from a holiday 🫢

@Mark63 Nope - OTS is supposed to be industry-wide, irrespective of the provider/s involved - although I seem to recall some smaller networks (and Virgin) having more problems than others.

With the OTS , the address and surname must match for a transfer to be initiated, so an accidental address error should fail.
There's an interesting post here https://www.ukfcf.org.uk/aaisps-novel-solution-to-slamming-in-new-uk-broadband-switching-system/

How does a house move work now. Does that still take 10 working days, with a 'sorry you're leaving us' letter from the losing ISP to the 'old' householders ?

I don't think the OTS system is applicable to house moves. I assume they still use the old system and are subject to the 10 day rule.

That's good, and for house purchases the 10 working days perfectly matches the typical 10 working day gap between the exchange of contracts, and completion
