BT Smart Hub 2 with no passwords

I bought a BT Smart hub 2 from eBay to use with plus net but it didn’t come with any passwords. From the guides I have read online It seems that you can only reset the password by using the Wi-Fi password, but what if you don’t have the original Wi-Fi password either?? I was going to reset using WPS or Ethernet and now I’m stuck and can’t find anything online for this. Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: BT Smart Hub 2 with no passwords

There’s normally a removable plastic tab in the side that slides out is that missing?

I’m afraid without that it’s pretty useless Sad I’d lodge a complaint with eBay

BT-Complete-Wi-Fi-6-768x513.jpgI thought the plastic plate was just a "handy extra".

Are you sure it's not on a label/plate somewhere on the case?

If using Ethernet isn't it the admin password you need?

Re: BT Smart Hub 2 with no passwords

what you've highlighted is the plastic slide out plate, there is also usally another small card in the box with the info - but one assumes both are missing from the details given.

Re: BT Smart Hub 2 with no passwords

Definitely not any label on the case unfortunately have checked and double checked
Yes I need to reset the admin password as without that I can’t enter my plus net details or reset Wi-Fi settings.

I'm inclined to agree with @dvorak then - dodgy seller.

I knew that they didn’t have the admin password but didn’t know they couldn’t reset

Oh.  😥

Hope it wasn't too expensive.

Re: BT Smart Hub 2 with no passwords

Have managed to get the Wi-Fi key with a bit of trickery but still can’t do anything without the original default password. Seems crazy to lock them down like this.

Re: BT Smart Hub 2 with no passwords

If I'm reading the guide right it looks like you can only override a admin password you've set yourself and not the default password

Re: BT Smart Hub 2 with no passwords

the admin password is also on the label behind the plastic sliding label. BT specifically put it there in case the actual slider was lost. It has the default Wi-Fi SSID, Passcode and admin password.

Holding the reset button for 5s sets it back to factory defaults
