Re: HUB2 Bridge mode - help

Once the HUB is put into bridge mode there is no further access to configure it or are you referring to the asus router config?

@xxredmaxx  I am referring to the Hub 2vsettings. It doesn't surprise me that there is no configuration options.

I'm going to tag the product owner to confirm the encapsulation settings in adsl bridge mode

@bobpullen  any thoughts ?

Re: HUB2 Bridge mode - help

@RealAleMadrid It's been a while (8 years) since I had ADSL, thought I'd put out that thought just in case.

Re: HUB2 Bridge mode - help

@xxredmaxx

I think the conclusion here is:-

Just use the Hub Two

or

Use the Hub Two as a Modem/Router and configure your ASUS device to use DHCP, which I beleive you did before.

Dan.

Re: HUB2 Bridge mode - help

Hi Dan

I'd love to replace the HUB2 with my Asus but it doesnt have DSL port

If I purchased another router with an adsl port to replace the HUB2 - where do I get all the settings from to configure it correctly please? Will plusnet supply settings I need?

I was looking at TP-link AC2100

@xxredmaxx

Setup instructions are here :- https://www.plus.net/help/broadband/broadband-connection-settings/

I take it you're thinking about replacing both with the TP-Link device?

Re: HUB2 Bridge mode - help

@Dan_the_Van yes exactly.

I need better WiFi coverage around the house.

I've got a couple of Ubiquit AP's for garden but not in a position to set up PoE cables yet so I'm hoping a more powerful WiFi router will at least cover the ground and 1st floor which the HUB2 doesn't.

This has cropped up before.

I was able to replicate the problem this afternoon so have raised a bug ticket for review (ref: PNHUB2-316).

The suspicion concerning encapsulation is a good one I reckon.

Re: HUB2 Bridge mode - help

Hi All

Update:

I purchased a TP-link AC-2800

Followed Plusnet set up instructions in an earlier link and selected PPPoA in TP-link software and all connected fine. Better WiFi signal around the ground floor definitely.

Shame I had to spend £150 and not be able to utilise a very capable router I already own.

Question: When I was setting up my ASUS to be used with HUB 2 in bridge mode it was suggested I use the ASUS in PPPoE mode.

Why the difference?

Thx

Re: HUB2 Bridge mode - help

The tplink is connected directly to the DSL which is an ATM link It therefore needs to make a PPPoA ( ppp over atm  ) connection. The Hub 2 in bridge mode , bridges the DSL ATM to an ethernet link , hence the ASUS needs to make a PPPoE ( ppp over ethernet ) connection
