I have a 2nd plus net router, how do I put it into bridging mode?

Hello

I have a second plus net router.

I want to put it into bridging mode to allow to allow me to extend me my broadband range accross the house and provide more ports for hard wired connections.

the router is the new style

@ashrogan welcome to the forum

The Hub two does not support 'bridging mode as you describe, but reconfigures the Hub two in to a modem only device which is not what you are looking for.

hello thanks for this, I just want to plug a ethernet cable into the back of it and connect into another part of the house, is there no way to use this router for this purpose?

If you have a spare LAN port there is no reason why you can not run a ethernet cable between the two Hubs.

LAN to LAN port, you would need to give the second device a different IP Address to 192.168.1.254 and turn off DHCP on the second device as well

@ashrogan note that you can't use the red WAN port for this scenario and so you will only have 2 extra LAN ports available.

The led will also flash orange continuously ( trying to get a DSL connection ) and so you will probably want to tape over it...

It would probably be easier to use something link an ethernet switch to extend the wired network in another party of the house:

8-Port Ethernet Switch  or  5-Port Ethernet Switch   other brand are available - quite cheap but don't have WiFi

@ashrogan

First you need to connect to the second Hub two with nothing else connected with exception of a PC to make the changes

1) Navigate from the page Home >Advanced settings >My network >IPv4 configuration

Change the IP Address of the Hub Two from 192.168.1.254 to 192.168.1.1, after the change has taken you will need to connect to the Hub using it's new IP Address of 192.168.1.1

2) Once restarted and connected to 192.168.1.1 you will need to turn DHCP OFF using the same screen on the Hub Two, make sure you save the changes

Once changed the screen should look like

Connect a LAN port on the master Hub two to a LAN port on this Hub two, you need also need to ensure the PC you made the changes on connection is refreshed to it see the primary Hub as for DHCP

I would also disable the second Hub two Firewall and disable UPnP

Home >Advanced settings >Firewall >Configuration

These change are all I think is required and will allow for a second wireless network.
