Moved to 500mb full fibre d/l speed now slower than copper

Hi all, I have just moved to full fibre 500mb from a copper line which was capable of 68mb.

It's been set up a week now and according to my phone, I'm getting 500mb sat next to the router and around 300mb upstairs.

Problem is both of the kids Xboxs have become unplayable online and are not going over 20mb download speeds.

Is there a common issue that might be causing this?

I got rid of my original Plusnet router a few years ago because the signal was rubbish and swapped to a BT hub which was far better.

Was kinda hoping this new Plusnet hub 2 would be far better.

@Cedar123 have you tried changing wireless channels on the router ?

No, I had a play about with the settings last night but wasn't sure how to do this?

@Cedar123 ideally you use a wireless analyser app on a smartphone to check which is the least used channel (by adjacent networks)  in your location. Check it at both the router and device locations and assess which is the best channel ( the one with least interference ). Then go into the Advanced settings->wireless and change the channel from automatic to the chosen channel. You may only need to change the 2.4ghz channel but I'd check the 5ghz one as well.

@Cedar123

This YouTube video - Changing your Hub Two wireless settings  shows how to navigate to the relevant screen

then try the 2.4GHz channel numbers 1, 6, and 11 - to see which gives the best signal at the Xbox.

The 2.4Ghz band will give you the best range,

but the 5GHz band will give you faster speeds if the WiFi signal strength is adequate.

Is there any setting in your Xbox to select which WiFi band you connect to ?
