Does the Hub 2 work on the FTTP  connection ?

Yes. If it works with the Hub 2, then we know it's your router config that's the problem. If it doesn't work with the Hub 2 then it's an FTTP fault.

Re: New Hub Two delivered but i need to know how to set into modem mode only

I may have found the issue i read this page  https://www.plus.net/help/broadband/broadband-connection-settings/

If i am moving from ADSL to Full Fibre i need to setup VLAN in Opnsense i think!

I will test this first if no  good then i will test the Hub 2

@OsoPolar

You need these settings

Screenshot 2024-12-17 073502.png

The Openreach ONT can be seen as a modem, OPNsense is a router NO VLAN is required the ONT looks after that

But its currently not working when i connect !
So i am stuck in how to fix it with my current ADSL connection has worked for years
Soon as i plugin to the new ONT i lose all connections !
I really dont want to lose my Opnsense router as not a fan of the Hub2

Re: New Hub Two delivered but i need to know how to set into modem mode only

Have you established your Full Fibre connection works yet using the Hub Two.

You said in your first post you had a VDSL connection

Huawei EchoLife HG612 3B FTTC VDSL MODEM G.INP NTE BT openreach ta act as a modem only

So that device would add the VALN setting like the ONT does

Re: New Hub Two delivered but i need to know how to set into modem mode only

Let me try the Hub 2 to rule out ONT connection issues  ?
Can i use this just as modem i have a separate Wifi Router
Do i have to access the webui and add my Plusnet settings again ?

Re: New Hub Two delivered but i need to know how to set into modem mode only

The Hub Two WAN port connects directly to the ONT

Providing the Hub Two is registered on the TR069 system it will auto configure, otherwise yes you need to add your credentials

Home >Advanced Settings >Broadband. make sure it's 'Disconnected' before changing, (the factory default is setup@plusdsl.net)

The IP Address for the Hub is http://192.168.1.254

I would connect using a wired device if possible

Edit corrected link for Hub

Re: New Hub Two delivered but i need to know how to set into modem mode only

@OsoPolar  I think you need to keep things simple and just use the Hub2 connected to the ONT with a PC or Laptop connected to the Hub2 with ethernet. You are just trying to test the FTTP connection so don't complicate the issue by trying to connect to your local network.

The fact that your FTTC connection is (or was ) still working is suspicious, it should have disconnected when the FTTP was activated.

Re: New Hub Two delivered but i need to know how to set into modem mode only

HI
Sorry i am very confused with your advice. I dont want to use the Hub2 its of no use to my setup.
The FTTC crashes when i try to download a 2gb plus file.  But if i revert to ADSL it works without issue.

I have had Hub2 running but only getting a 36mb download speed and 120 upload speed.
If i switch to my Opnsense i get 600mb instantly  but it crashes on large files.

I guess its a hardware issue on my Opnsesne router

Re: New Hub Two delivered but i need to know how to set into modem mode only

@OsoPolar

Are you not upgrading from VSDL (FTTC) to Full Fibre (FTTP) attached picture fibre1.jpg suggests you are?

What speed are you achieving using the Hub Two stand alone from the rest of your network, just a wired pc connected to a LAN port?

ONT LAN port ----> WAN port Hub Two ----> PC/laptop connected using DHCP to a LAN port

For the OPNsense router, did you previously setup any Quality of Service?

Re: New Hub Two delivered but i need to know how to set into modem mode only

@OsoPolar  There should be no confusion, the use of the Hub2 is the easiest method to check if the FTTP service is working correctly, not as a long term solution. I have no idea how you are testing the speed on the Hub2 but 36Mb download is obviously wrong so you have not yet confirmed that the FTTP is functioning correctly although the upload speed looks OK.

You appear to be confusing ADSL, FTTC and FTTP, I assume you mean the FTTP crashes when downloading but the old FTTC service works.

The fact that your old FTTC service is still connected is not good. Have you asked Plusnet why this is the case, as having 2 different services on the same account which shouldn't be possible is very likely to be causing problems.

Also trying to guess what the problem might be is not a good idea, as a retired software engineer with over 30 years experience in development and testing what needs to happen is a logical and rigorous approach to testing individual areas to determine the location of the fault.  The first step is to get the HUB2 working at full speed. Then move on to other parts of your setup.

Re: New Hub Two delivered but i need to know how to set into modem mode only

@OsoPolar

On the back of the last post, make sure you disconnect the old VDSL modem DSL cable, this will ensure your OPNsense router broadband user is not logged in

Edit: if you login to the members centre what product does say you have?
