Plusnet Hub Two - Firmware Alternatives - DD-WRT - OpenWrt

Does anyone know if it's possible to run a third party firmware like dd-wrt /openwrt on a plusnet supplied router. Hub two or the hub one?

I can't find much information about it anywhere so I thought I would ask.

The PN Hub 2 is a rebadged BT Hub 6, IIRC, so may well take alternative firmware if such a thing is available.

@T1Cybernetic

The BT Smarthubs and the Plusnet Hub 2, which is a rebadged BT Smarthub 2 with modified firmware do not have the accessible capability of running alternative third party firmware.

@T1Cybernetic

AFAIK, not the Hub 2, but you might find this page interesting, about the BT Hub 5A / Plusnet Hub One:

Note that I have not tried this myself, so don't take me posting that link as an endorsement!

Re: Plusnet Hub Two - Firmware Alternatives - DD-WRT - OpenWrt

Thanks, Their wiki is a good read 👍 I do have a couple of routers that are not in use so my intention is was extend the wifi around the house and into the shed /garden but using a spare plusnet router instead of them gathering dust.

I had more or less come to the conclusion it wasn't possible change firmware so for now I'll admit defeat Sad

It's a shame really because my internet and WIFI are excellent when I use the plusnet devices but the user interface is terrible and there's a possibility a whole load of options are hidden or unavailable because of the rubbish software.

Fingers crossed for the future Wink
