Re: Using the BT Smarthub 6 on a Plusnet Account

What cable does the business hub come with? I didn’t swap the old Sky Hub dsl cable out. I’m assuming they are both the same?

@Farnzie, unless something's changed recently, the Smarthub is still SMB1 regardless of firmware image.

Re: Using the BT Smarthub 6 on a Plusnet Account

@Farnzie

As @bobpullen  says, they are still on SMB1. I thought that the firmware had been updated as mine was workung with a memory stick. However having checked today I noted that SMB1 had been enabled. Switching it off killed the connection.

If the firmware hasn't updated just restart it by switching the router off, leave it a minute then back on. Your settings will not be lost and the reboot should kick it into life.

Re: Using the BT Smarthub 6 on a Plusnet Account

Does anyone experience the details for the Pnet broadband resetting themselves in the BT hub? It just happened to me and I had to redo them all over again.

@dan17

Perhaps a few more details?

If this happens whilst you are trying to set it up it's because you have the DSL cable plugged in whilst setting your Plusnet credentials. You need to switch off the Smarthub and remove the DSL cable before switching on and setting the Plusnet data. You THEN plug in the DSL cable.

Hi,

I set it up a while ago and it was working correctly. Without any input from me, the details got reset this morning.

@dan17

Interesting. It's the first time that I've heard of this. It will be interesting to see if any more such reports start coming in, hopefully it will just be a one off glitch.

Did you ensure that Smart set up tab had been set off.

Yep, it was definitely off, and I factory reset it when I first got it

Re: Using the BT Smarthub 6 on a Plusnet Account

@Baldrick1  I tried switching off but its still on very old firmware number - SG4B1000E01E. It's only been connected just over 48 hours though so maybe it needs more time.

Works fine though.

Re: Using the BT Smarthub 6 on a Plusnet Account

@Baldrick1 not sure if this has already been discussed but it would seem that the A and B versions use different hardware.

The 6A uses Broadcom BCM63137 chipset whereas the 6B made by Arcadyan uses Lantiq PSB4395 chipset.

Re: Using the BT Smarthub 6 on a Plusnet Account

I've been using the Homehub 6 for a few days now and not had many issues (aside from my partner heat gunning the phone cable and temporarily taking us offline lol), both wireless channels work fine as well!

If you have any issues such as the connection dropping like myself (i.e. orange light on BT home hub 6 or the BT support phone number showing when connected to the router) then you might have to sign in to Plusnet through the routers settings page to reauthenticate your connection. Todo this

  • Sign into to the settings page of your the homehub by going to 192.168.1.25 in your browser (make sure you're on the same network as your router when doing this)
  • Then go to advanced settings > broadband > enter Plusnet details, your username being plusnet_username@plusdsl.net
  • Click connect

Re: Using the BT Smarthub 6 on a Plusnet Account

Had ours pluggeg in for 3 weeks but still no firmware update? We had a BT chap in at work today & he said it wont update on a plusnet connection as BT diallers would not try to dial in to it. Is this right?

He did say I could plug it in at work (BT line/account) and it should update on that connection.

Always updated when I was with plusnet. Had no problem. Perhaps there is no update for your model.

What is the latest firmware no for the hub 6?
