The firmware will automatically update from time to time. Updates do not get installed in one big release but will happen if you are patient.
The Smarthub 6 has been superceded by the Smarthub 2. From what I read these are only 'better' if you also have matching satellite disks as they are mesh ready devices. The disadvantage, unless it has been recently changed, is that you cannot separate the 2.4 and 5GHz bands on this model.
In my opinion currently the best one to go for is a Business Smarthub 6 as it gives you control over more settings such as DNS servers.

@SAABDude @Baldrick1 Thanks to both of you. That is very useful information and pre-empts my proposed next question on how to update the firm wear as I'm not with BT

Same here, only my HH6 updated itself in March this year. It's been a big improvement on PN Hub One, which in fairness did my job, again our thanks to Baldrick for posting his guide to using HH6 on PN. Now if he could be persuaded to tackle the PN accounts and billing system ... 🤔

Yes there definitely seems some issue at-least to some routers including mine. Just now (at 10:52) somehow again the connection got dropped and surprising enough the username and password reverted to BT default. There was no reboot as such. Could'nt understand much from the log as well. Attaching here just in case

Whilst exploring the setting on my new BT Smarthub 6 on a Plusnet Account, I see these setting, which seem to imply that my download and upload speeds are limited.
Is there anyway to adjust them, to reflect the Plusnet Contract of Fibre Unlimited Extra, that I have been paying for, for the last 11 months?

@dvorak Plusnet Engineer just told me my line is "at its limit". This is odd as BT offer their 900mbs FFTTP in my area and it's fibre to the top of the pole outside. Maybe it just needs a reboot or resetting as for a few days (August 2019) while being switched from Fibre to Fibre Extra it did go up to 66mbs down and 15mbs up, but since then it's been very poor?
I just thought you might like to see the difference just switching hubs has made to my Fibre Extra speeds 😀
Who knows, one day my up speed may be in double digits and as high as 10mbps again

I'm pleased to say I'm now up-to-date and on the radar with my BT hub6

Finally removed the HH6A and went back to PN hub 1 for the time being. Had at least 3 TR69 events in the last 1 hour and with each event the connection got disconnected. Missed important meeting due to this 😳
Facing the same issues (and consequences) as you unfortunately 😕
Did you try the HH6A again or just back to the PN Hub 1 for now?

Thanks for the answer, I guess I'll have to do the same. May be possible to use the HH6 for Wifi only and the Hub One for the connection...

Yes I ditched the hub1, another modem and mesh system.
Sheeeeeer bliss. No problems with coverage, no 5GHz problems. No throughput problems.
Now back to streaming that film....... Uninterrupted.

I am totally fed up with the BT hub now - it disconnects so much every night. Orange flashing light is really common.
I cannot get it to work at all now so it's back to thr PN router insread - at least it works.
For @Baldrick1 here are a small section of tonights logs if it means anything?
