@sju68 I suggest you plug your plusnet one hub back in and log on. If that works, try the BT hub again.

Maybe for some of us the line just won’t work?

Thank you to @Baldrick1 for a helpful and proactive post. I found a new (well, "2nd hand" but unused) Business Smart Hub on Ebay for 30 quid delivered and thought it worth a punt, having struggled for long enough with WiFi on the standard Plusnet routers (Hub Zero and Hub One). These instructions made the initial setup a breeze, and so far, so good.
One question springs to mind though... I see this model offers Guest WiFi. In princple, it would be useful to be able to let someone visiting my home get a network connection without having to dish out my home network details. But I don't like the idea of just having an open connection for anyone nearby to hop onto without credentials, that would seem a bad idea. So is there no way of having a dedicated Guest WiFi network that is password protected? Or is that the idea of the BT WiFi option (albeit intended for businesses rather than home users such as me)?

Ok. I did that. Credentials are saved. I pressed connect on the iPad and then connected the DSL but no joy. Just have a solid orange light on the hub and no connection. What the chuff have I done wrong?
Things to try:
1. Are you using the correct username and password? Have you checked by using them to log into the member centre?
2. Have you added @plusdsl.net to your user name?
3. Have you got any special characters in your Plusnet password? If so go into the member centre and change it to only alpha numeric ones. Ignore the Plusnet comment about special ones.

This is a business modem/router and the Guest WiFi is totally open. This is popular in pubs, coffee bars etc so that free WiFi can be offered to customers.
This hub does not provide password protected WiFi channels as found on some residential routers.

I think I have just bought a BT smart hub 6 and not the business one.

Logging a Smarthub onto the Plusnet servers is exactly the same for all models.

Thanks for all your help.
WiFi seems a bit stronger and love the ability to kill the lights at night.

Hmm...been dropping out a fair bit lately. Just lost connection a few mins ago (Hub glowing green) and this was event log entries. I powered off and on again to restore. Any insights from this from those more technically astute? Thanks David

I've been using the Hub 1 as a modem, linked by ethernet to my Tenda mesh network.
Sorry but you can't use a Hub One as a modem. Either you are using your mesh units in Access Point mode or you are double NATing your connection.
