Re: Using the BT Smarthub 6 on a Plusnet Account

@Paulkoumi

To clarify @LifeonMars  post, you do not need to tell Plusnet if you use a different hub.

However be aware that whilst the Smarthub has better and more stable WiFi it will not resolve dropped DSL issues. From your description this might not be a Hub One problem, it sounds more like a fault on your broadband connection.

Re: Using the BT Smarthub 6 on a Plusnet Account

Hi. Apologies if this issue is mentionned elsewhere. I'm on Plusnet Unlimited Fibre and was using a Plusnet 1 Hub with a stable connection. I have just purchased a BT Smart Hub FTTC version off eBay. I followed your instructions and was able to set it up today and get connected to the internet etc. It first connected at 16:58 today, but since then has rebooted itself almost exactly every hour. I have attached the log from the Hub and you can see where it reboots but after that I've no idea what the data means. Would it be a case of letting it "settle" or is there some other issue involved? (I've reverted to my Plusnet Hub 1 for the time being as I am currently working from home and need a stable connection).

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Re: Using the BT Smarthub 6 on a Plusnet Account

I suggest a hard reset by using a pin in the reset hole at the rear. Keep it pressed in for a considerable amount of time.

Remember to then turn off smart set up in router settings and only connect the dsl cable after you have entered yourusername@plusdsl.net and your password and ready to connect.

The firmware will possibly update at a later date if an old version. Reboots are usually every 14 days. You obviously can try and set these by restarting your router at a time the reboot 14days later is not such an inconvenience.

HH6 has arrived, set up was a doddle! So far it's great. But it's only day one 😄

If there will be anything to regret it will only be that you did not buy one months ago.....😁

Re: Using the BT Smarthub 6 on a Plusnet Account

Does anyone know of a problem that would cause the purple light to display, it's happened twice in the last couple of months, the last time it happened was during a storm and there were outages across the area it eventually fixed itself. It dropped out again last night and hasn't been back on since, been through the procedure of factory resseting the router but to no avail ☹️ reluctant to contact Plusnet due to misplacing the original router. Any help would be grateful

@Hanes

Do you neen constant purple or flashing purple, see  https://www.bt.com/help/broadband/fix-a-problem/broadband-and-wi-fi/i-can-t-connect/what-do-the-ligh... ?

How long did you hold the factory reset switch closed? Have you checked that your Plusnet username and password are locked in correctly? After the reset did you follow the instructions linked in this post fully? https://community.plus.net/t5/My-Router/Using-A-BT-Smarthub-An-Update/m-p/1795292#M24601

Have you used a phone to check that your landline is working?

You don't need a Plusnet hub to contact Plusnet, they are perfectly happy for you to use your own. It's just that  their advice crib sheets won't cover a hub problem, but they can still check out your line.

Re: Using the BT Smarthub 6 on a Plusnet Account

Username & Password are both correct as I took a print screen of the page before I reset, I held the button in for a good minute until the green light came on. Phone line works perfectly fine incoming and outgoings are working. The light is flashing purple (didn't know it could be a in a solid state, sorry)

And I followed your instructions to the letter

@Hanes

This suggests that for some reason either your username or password has changed. Can you log in to the Plusnet member centre with these?

Re: Using the BT Smarthub 6 on a Plusnet Account

BT Smart Hubs all re boot every 14 days. even when connected to BT or Plusnet. To minimise any disruption to the cycle you could reset it yourself at a time 14 days earlier  however this does not take into account any firmware updates  or any other disruptions .

It will re boot every 14 days , not log you out .
