Re: Using the BT Smarthub 6 on a Plusnet Account

@Semidt

Whether a Hub 2 is any better is debatable. It comes with a guarantee and self configures, but you are unlikely to see very different wireless performance. On the downside you cannot split the bands.

Whether this causes any issues depends on your connected hardware. I suggest that you try it and if you have any problems then start a new topic on the Router board, describing your problem and giving the make and model of the troublesome device. You start a topic by selecting the appropriate field at the top of the board.

@Baldrick1 thank you. I was actually referring to your message 926 in which you said that "Fibre customers now get the new Hub Two." It was to that which I was referring.

@Ben1

In that case the answer to your question is No. If you ring the Customer Optiond Team to renew your contract on 0800 013 2632 and ask they will send you a Hub 2 for the P&P charge. It is not an automatic upgrade and not offered if you renew on line.

Keep your HH6 !!

A recent firmware upgrade to ny Hub2 reduced the sync speed by 15% which was quite significant on a poor line.

Reconnecting the HH6 restored normal service.

Irritating to say the least.....

@fletpablo

I don’t understand your comment. The BT Smarthub 2 and Plusnet Hub 2 are basically built on the same BT hardware but have different firmware.

@fletpablo

Use the Plusnet Hub 2.

It is more of a toss up when you compare the Plusnet Hub 2 with the older original BT Smarthub, a.k.a Smarthub 6. This is because, if you so wish, you can separate the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands on the original beast. This feature is not supported on either of the newer hubs.

Re: Using the BT Smarthub 6 on a Plusnet Account

Hi,

I'm just out of contract with BT and thinking of switching to PlusNet. Just wanted to check that the BT Smart Hub 1 (HH6) will still work?

@JSM15 Yes it will - you would just have to alter the username and password.

Re: Using the BT Smarthub 6 on a Plusnet Account

Many thanks for the confirmation @jab1 ‌‌👍

I had just wanted to make sure the situation hadn't changed, as there hadn't been any posts in this thread for a few months. I guess there would have if people's BT Hubs had suddenly stopped working!

@JSM15

As @jab1  states, they still work. However, remember that you must be disconnected from the Internet when making the changes. It’s easiest to just unplug the DSL cable whilst you input your Plusnet credentials.

Re: Using the BT Smarthub 6 on a Plusnet Account

Thanks @Baldrick1. Could I also just click Disconnect in the HH6 Advanced Settings page? I'd need to be in that screen anyway in order to update my log in details.

Will I be provided with my log in details automatically when the service goes live, or do I need to request them if I'm not opting for the supplied hub when ordering?
