release MAC binding

Hello!

I am trying to set up a Ubiquiti router and have been advised that I need to check whether MAC binding is configured and if so, get it released. The help desk suggested I post here for help with this and so I would be very grateful if anyone can suggest what I am to do next.

Many thanks in advance!

Re: release MAC binding

@Diquarto Plusnet don't use MAC binding.

Your WAN connection needs to be set for PPPoE with your Plusnet username & password. Username is <accountname>@plusdsl.net and password is the one used to access the Plusnet account at https://www.plus.net/member-centre/login.

Assuming you're either on Full Fibre i.e router connected to the ONT or on normal Fibre i.e connected to a VDSL modem , then you need to make sure that VLAN ID is dsiabled on the Ubiquiti

Re: release MAC binding

Hi MisterW,

Thank you so much for your reply!

Ummm, so I'm a bit lost - if Ubiquiti said I need the MAC to be released and PlusNet don't use MAC binding then there must be another reason for the new router to not be speaking to the modem?

Any further advice greatly appreciated!!

Re: release MAC binding

Hi @MisterW,
I am just replying on behalf of @Diquarto. That "turn off your VLAN" advice was perfect. Fixed the problem straight away. If you ever find yourself in Carlisle, we owe you a beer.
Thanks
