Thirteen of our very own Plusnetters will tackle this year’s Plusnet Yorkshire Marathon in aid of Roundabout on Sunday 20th October. As many of you will know by now, our chosen Charity, Roundabout, supports young homeless people in our home town of Sheffield and is desperate to raise funds to continue supporting those aged 16-21 who find themselves without a place to call home ... In January, 5,500 initial running places for the event were snapped up within just three days of launch. Last month, capacity was increased to 6,100 and all extra places were taken within just two minutes of release. Jamie Ford, CEO at Plusnet, said:
“As a sports enthusiast myself, I have great admiration for what the marathon runners are about to put themselves through: It takes great determination and dedication to commit to this challenge and I am humbled that so many of our staff have shown interest in the marathon and in raising funds for Roundabout. “Plusnet is very proud of its Yorkshire roots and it is great to support such as large event in the region.”
Ben Keegan, CEO, from Roundabout commented:
“We’re overwhelmed by Plusnet’s support so far and the marathon is just another example of how Plusnet staff have gone above and beyond to help us out. We wish all the runners the very best of luck!”

The Plusnet Yorkshire Marathon is organised by For all Events, the fundraising organisation set up in memory of the inspirational Jane Tomlinson, who heroically combat numerous physical milestones whilst suffering from cancer. Jane’s husband Mike Tomlinson, who is running the Plusnet Yorkshire Marathon himself, said:
“By selling out, it goes to show that the Plusnet Yorkshire Marathon is the run that the whole of Yorkshire and beyond has been waiting for. We know it will be a fantastic event. “We’ll be looking out for the 15 Plusnet runners who will be joining the sea of thousands, pushing themselves to the limit to raise money for very worthy causes.”
