This should uplift automatically over the first 10 days of service.

Re: BT Appointment not cancelled, no engineer showed up, no response from PN

Okay...
Huh
...but the download speed wasn't really the issue - the upload speed is. Sorry if that was unclear from my previous posts (didn't think it was, but I guess you people are likely very busy).
Summarising in quotes:
Quote from: jelv
If you are on a 21CN exchange you can ask for your upload speed to be uncapped which may come at the sacrifice of a little of your download speed - you'd probably get approaching 1mbps.

So...  Smiley ...what do I have to do to have my upload speed uncapped as jelv suggested?

Re: BT Appointment not cancelled, no engineer showed up, no response from PN

Oh, right. Sorry, it sounded more like a "feature request" than a fault to me, seeing as upload speeds like this were regarded as normal by other users here.
Will do that right away then. Smiley Thanks.

No problem, as mentioned reply here when you've raised the fault and I'll make sure it gets some attention.

Re: BT Appointment not cancelled, no engineer showed up, no response from PN

Right. I think I've done that  Undecided
First I got this:
Quote
There's been a problem
Please try using the Broadband Troubleshooter again in a short while. If you continue to have problems please contact our Support Team for help.

Then I tried again, and at the end after finally getting to enter my little text requesting the upload to be uncapped I got this:
Quote
Error
Sorry, An error occured whilst processing your request.
The error has been recorded and our website team will investigate. Please try again later.

Now I can't tell from the "view your question" page whether the actual request after running through all those (in this case irrelevant) questions actually got through.... It's just a row of standard replies with no mention of the request itself.  Roll_eyes

Thanks for letting me know I'll go and look into that problem, just so you know your query did get through and a member of our faults team will be looking at that shortly.

Re: BT Appointment not cancelled, no engineer showed up, no response from PN

Adam, I don't know what they were looking at, but it doesn't seem to have been the actual request.  Sad
This is the email I got:
Quote
When you signed up for your broadband account, we performed a check on your telephone line to give you an estimated speed your line might achieve.
Now that your service has now been active for 14 days, we thought we'd let you know the speed as it stands today, by way of comparison.
Estimated line speed: 7.5Mbps
Current line speed: 7.15Mbps
You can keep a track of your line speed through our website

Before I added my request to uncap the upload speed in the fault tracker, as you suggested, the download speed was close to 11 Mbps for a whole day, working perfectly fine that way.
A short time thereafter it dropped again to the initial speed that I got immediately after setting up the router.
Not only was my request not looked at, but I've had a decrease in download speed instead.  Sad Not happy!

Re: BT Appointment not cancelled, no engineer showed up, no response from PN

That's nothing to worry about. Its an automated message and the speeds are based on a line test. As there seems to be a fault the test results won't be accurate.
Ticket 39212483 is back still with the faults team and is under investigation.

Re: BT Appointment not cancelled, no engineer showed up, no response from PN

Nice. Seems this has been taken care of, here is the current speed tester result:
Quote
Upload speed achieved during the test was - 890 Kbps
Additional Information:
Upstream Rate IP profile on your line is - 1104 Kbps

Thank you very much, Adam.

Re: BT Appointment not cancelled, no engineer showed up, no response from PN

Btw, what happened to the whole me being credited for the time I couldn't yet use the service thing? I.e. the time between the 5th and 20th January?
The new bill on the "My Bills" page doesn't seem to take that into account at all. It's the full amount.

Re: BT Appointment not cancelled, no engineer showed up, no response from PN

We shouldn't haven't started to charge you until the service was activated, however I can see that there was a charge for line rental, that has now been refunded. The monies should reach your account within the next 10 days.
