All Plusnet would be able to tell you is when it was although they might be able to identify the type but I am not sure of that
Have you looked here to see the traffic classified by type https://portal.plus.net/view_my_broadband_usage/index.php to see where it is all going

Also just another point to save confusion in the future, you have been referring to Gb when you really mean GB (a byte being 8 bits)
I can't recall asking, are you using your wireless connection and if it is on is it secure?
Edit: It could be useful to know how that supposed traffic was split between Downstream and Upstream .
Did you also check the Safe Surf and the Broadband Firewall I mentioned http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,109140.msg934399.html#msg934399

Quote from: Chris We found a problem on your account in our systems and have corrected it now so the spurious usage will stop.
For all the reports we've seen of 'spurious usage over the years this is probably the first time I can recall an actual erroneous recording being confirmed. Can you say any more about what was wrong? Could it affect any other users.

I've seen 3 examples of this over the last 2 or 3 years, so very unlikely to happen. We do have an internal problem open on it to fix and I'll try and find out the status.
