FTTC 40/2 - talk talk now offer 40/10

it is widely thought that plusnet changed their base FTTC package to 40/2 to match and compete with Talk Talk (who also supplied 40/2).

however it appears that Talk Talk have now changed theirs to 40/10.

so will plusnet now use the common sense approach and start offering 40/10?

or go one better and offer 55/10 ?

Oh! no, that would make us too similar to BT , we can't do that...

most would probably be happy with 40/10.
and it was July 15th that talk talk gave everyone a free upgrade to 10Mbps upstream.

For commercial reasons we will not discuss future product offerings or changes to existing offerings, however Plusnet are always reviewing their product range against our customers’ needs and the competition in the market place.

As always any updates and changes to our packages will be communicated to our customers when we the details are finalised.

Review does not always mean we are going to get things the way we want them to be.

I for one would love 40/10, just my 2p's worth. Roll_eyes

Re: FTTC 40/2 - talk talk now offer 40/10

me too as I now only get 51/7 with a 3dB noise margin due to cross talk but the price difference would need to make it worth it

Re: FTTC 40/2 - talk talk now offer 40/10

there's zero chance in me taking 40/2, so i would either need to leave plusnet or take 80/20.

Hmm, didn't ofcom tell openreach to make 40/10 cheaper than 40/2 ... Maybe there is hope 🙂

Re: FTTC 40/2 - talk talk now offer 40/10

40/10 package is currently £88.80 per year. Ofcom propose to lower the price to £66.28 for 2018/2019, £57.00 for 2019/2020 & £52.77 for 2020/2021. Looking at price list 40/2 is £82.80 per year so it's currently only £6 cheaper than 40/10. Under proposed price change 40/10 is the only product which will have it's price reduced so it would make sense for providers to move from 40/2 to 40/10 as the price difference will be much bigger.

Plusnet are now the only one of the main providers left offering a 2mbps upload speed on their cheapest fibre package. BT, SKY, TalkTalk, EE, Vodafone & Origin Broadband all now offer 10mbps upload on their cheapest fibre packages, think it's time Plusnet caught up.
