How will the OFCOM confirmed price changes affect Plusnet costs

http://www.thinkbroadband.com/news/6470-ofcom-issues-price-guidance-for-line-rental-products.html
At first glance it appears - Not a lot
However as stated here http://consumers.ofcom.org.uk/2014/05/plans-to-ensure-quality-of-service-in-repairs-and-installation... this could be very good news
Quote
Under the draft measures, Openreach must in future:
    complete around 80% of fault repairs within one to two working days of being notified;
    provide an appointment for around 80% of new line installations within 12 working days of being notified;
    report publicly on its performance, which will allow Ofcom to monitor and intervene further if required; and
    make clear the timeframe in which it is currently completing any remaining jobs, to provide reassurance to consumers about how long the work is likely to take.
The targets escalate over three years, reaching their full level in April 2016.
Separately, Ofcom will also review the standards of redress, which could include compensation, that landline and broadband providers offer to consumers when things go wrong.

Could this be the reasoning behind the OpenReach recruitment drive!?!  Cool

Openreach "claims" the new jobs are part of a drive to improve customer service... http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-27484554

Because it's not an overnight job to decrease it nationwide. It takes time to do.

All of today’s draft decisions are subject to review by the European Commission, following which Ofcom expects to publish final statements in June.

Ofcom is a UK Government body appointed to moderate UK delivered services.  What the hell has this to do with Brussels?

Assuming it's because competition law is regulated by both the UK and EU - could be wrong though

I was also wondering why it has to be approved by Brussels?
It's none of their business.

If there were competition, then that might have some bearing, but there is no competition to BTOR for the vast majority of the country.  Ofcom is appointed by UK HM Government to have over-sight for UK companies.  We do not need EU help (interference) to do that.  This is simply yet another delay to getting BTOR delivering a better service.

Bournemouth Echo has news on the recruitment drive in the South West. Apparently 200 jobs are to be created.
No one has to agree with my opinion, but in the time I have left a miracle would be nice.

yes but its also been under consideration for 2 years, its not like they only found out about it today.  3 (5) years is incredibly generous.
