Indeed,  but when you have a need to phone in for support too many have been suffering unacceptable wait times,
which PN have claimed to be working on for years....& haven't.
OVO scores consistently well on customer service which may well prove a vital USP for them.
Only EE rank worse in Customer Service in recent surveys. Cry
Strangely/ arrogantly they still boast about their customer service in current TV ads.
They are living on their service level scores 5 years ago!

We're a Yorkshire-based provider selling broadband and phone services to homes and businesses throughout the UK.
Winner of the ISPA 2010 'Best Consumer Customer Service ISP' Award, we're proud to offer the UK's best value standalone broadband

the tv ad for plusnet this morning actually reminded me my contract is up and to switch away, was tempted by ovo, however BT have a silly offer of £100+ cashback, £100 mastercard and a silly low fee for the duration of initial 12 month contract, throw in a AC vdsl router and i'm tempted, as much as I dislike the homehub, for £27.99 a month for 12 months although paying £49.99 to activate, its seriously tempting...

Tried to ring this morning and was told there was an hours wait. Given that on previous occasions their estimates have been somewhat conservative, I really did wonder how long one would have to listen to that awful music to get some resolve. Totally unacceptable.  Shocked

Nightmare company - worst mistake ever !
We made the mistake of joining Plusnet, not because of the irritating unfunny fat bloke in the ads but on recommendation of a friend. Its been nothing but trouble from day one, cancelled installs , cocky staff and the latest thing? BT installs the box about 100mtrs from my office room! Plusnets response ? You can pay £170 to move the box !!! Or they say Ive to connect the cable myself and run a long cable, what a load of crap, Ive not even got internet yet but they wont let me cancel. What a nightmare, worst service ever, warn your friends and family to avoid this company, I wouldnt pay them in washers!

100 meters - that is one hundred meters - that's a lot of distance - a real lot.
If you seriously think BT/Plusnet are going to run a cable free of charge 100m from where the phone line comes into the property to your office then you are living on a different planet.
Plus net is a LOW COST provider and anyway all internal property wiring is the responsibility of the property owner.
The master socket is to be installed in the nearest practical place to where the phone line comes into the property.
The external BT black sheathed wiring cannot just be run through the house as it is a fire hazard.

Re: Is plusnet the worst internet provider on the market?

From my experience of being with ISPs (Freeserve (dial up), TT, Virgin, Sky, Plusnet) TalkTalk had the worst customer service ever, nearly hour long wait times on the phone were common only to find you suddenly get cut off or the Indian script reader (whos accent i often cannot understand, lost in translation, etc) either hangs up or silences the line on you because they have no idea what the problem is & wishes to pass the the buck to another agent to deal with. While the small group of tech agents (based in the UK) on their forums dealing with issues was the only good thing about them, infact ironically they had the best run forums off all the ISPs.
While Sky's agents (or lack of them) on the forums were pretty much useless, all they did was moderate the posts & censur / delete posts that made them look bad, they didnt have direct access to fix technical problems & left it to experts (not employed by Sky) who patrolled the forums to help people, they often picked up the slack
Virgin agents on the forums were meh! made a big thing of clearing security so if you was not the account holder, say if you was helping out your non techie parents, grandparents, etc & they found out then they would ignore you, plus if you was on cable broadband had faults or congestion problems which needed repair / expansion of the network, that meant getting permission from councils / hiring contractors to dig up roads to get to the cables which could take months if not more than a year
