But if I was someone doing work for him (say a web design firm) I'd be asking for payment up front.

@liam - the date of the court hearing: just to be clear this is not yet set, the earliest date it will be as I understand it is the of 12th January, but it has to be agreed by the court. I'll ask when we are likely to have confirmation from the court as to the exact date of the hearing and let you know.
@fourfourdevon - I can confirm we had a few more lawyers in attendance than the 2 you've suggested. We had a team of 8 present including myself.
Thanks,
Fletch

Wow
Quote from: Fletch @fourfourdevon - I can confirm we had a few more lawyers in attendance than the 2 you've suggested. We had a team of 8 present including myself.

So an updated attendance for the last hearing is
- At least 1 Galant and May solicitor
- 8 people from BT/Plusnet including Fletch
- BBC reporter
- Open Rights Group
- BPI
- BE ?
- Guardian ?
So thats 12 confirmed of the reported 17, 2 maybe's, 3 unknown, although I think it likely that at least one of those was also with Galant and May.

http://www.cpp.co.uk/news/wireless-networks-open-to-attack/
Nearly half of home wi-fi networks can be hacked in less than five seconds, according to a new study
Quote According to the findings, nearly a quarter of private wireless networks has no password whatsoever attached, making them immediately accessible to criminals. This is despite majority (82 per cent) of Brits mistakenly thinking their network is secure
Exactly..... The public still need educating NOT sending letters of claim with fines of £300 - 700.

Quote the reason it has ditched working on the Digital Economy Act is because it is self defeating - file sharers are downloading content because they like it, he says, so to prosecute a potential investor is like shooting yourself in the foot. A model needs to be thought up whereby file sharers are not targeted aggressively, as with ACS:Law's tactic.

Where can i start, ....
Well i would like to thank Fletch and the other 7 members of BT/Plusnet who attended the hearing at the high court on the 4 oct, I hope that as others have already said that they will concentrate more on the accuracy of the data, and whether the NPO is the right way to go, One suggestion is that if the Law insists on allowing these NPO's then they should limit the amount of unknown items ie IP adresses to be limited to say 10. that way the rights holders can still apply and get an NPO to ask the ISPs for addresses but it will not be as cost effective as they will need to file numerous times (costs will increase) (but if they are protecting artists rights then that shouldnot matter)
Also the software used has been questioned on ACS Laws own emails, but has yet to be independantly tested, I would hope that Bt will test the accuracy and not rely on a "expert Witness" congered up by the law firm.
Remember that this is not about "ooow shot ooow", the damage has been done regarding the leak and BT should now question the entire process not just the data handling. afterall if they dont give the information away in the first place then it cannot get lost or be insecure.
Just my two penneth worth
