Well before PlusNet, I was with BT for a year nearly, eventually they agreed to let me out of the 24 month contract.
I had constant low speeds. I currently get 17 meg with PlusNet, BT struggled to give me 10.
I would call up to report low speeds, and the Indian call centre would say 'its within parameters its fine'.
They over charged me, I called up, and was told 'Nope it's correct'.
Some days the internet was so slow it was useless, I would call up, after over an hour on hold, then another 20 minutes (no joke) to get them to understand the security answers, I would be told the problem was my equipment, they wouldn't start the fault process, listen to anything I said, or even attempt any level of customer service.
Then there was BT vision.
At first, it was great.. until I realised the libraries were not updated daily, or even weekly as advertised, but on the 1st of the month.
The content was also so poor it wasn't worth watching.
The video quality was poor/average
The audio was basic stereo.
The actual software was so buggy, it was awful.
I had the newest designed black box.. the freeview quality was terrible I couldn't watch it, you would press the remote, and it would take 3 or 4 seconds to activate on the box.
It took 60 seconds to boot up the box from standby.
Of course it way be different with YouView boxes, although BT still use the vision software apparantly.
There are so many other issues, but I don't have time to type them
I know there are die hard BT loyalist, but maybe they have been lucky and never needed support?

Interesting, and thanks for the reply.
If you look at this thread's parent forum

you'll see some threads with tales of woe equal to yours.
Having said that, what you say does worry me.
I'll have to hope I'll be in the lucky majority that doesn't have faults.
BT Vision never struck me as an attractive package.
I'd be watching BT Sport via SKY if I jumped ship.
[Edited to add] When were you with BT?
I searched "YouView" and found your thread about returning to PlusNet from TalkTalk.
So, was the sequence BT > PlusNet > TalkTalk > PlusNet ?

I was with BT until March last year, when I joined PlusNet. Then I saw an offer that seemed too good to be true for TalkTalk, like you, the TV package was the persuader for me, what a mistake that was
Of course BT could have drastically changed since then, but I can't see it.

It could well be that I make a similar journey...
For me, it's a bonus that only BT Sport is being given away with BT Broadband;
BT Vision seems rather pointless as it's barely better than a FreeView recorder.
Although I see BT Vision has finally got HD.
Decisions, decisions.

I expect you've all been worrying about whether I will jump ship to BT for BT Sport.
Well, the TV schedule for live Premiership matches has been released. It is summarised rather neatly here:-
http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showpost.php?p=66993622&postcount=1741
My team, Man Utd, is only featured in two games in the initial traunch of live matches up to December.
So that pull is not so great, but the pull of Danny Baker and Danny Kelly is still strong.
I suppose I could hope to acquire their show by another source...
Yup, still undecided.

Quote from: _Adam_Walker_
Quote I can still see PN keeping their rep for broadband and phone
Of course but as Kelly said we are looking at options so we'd be keen to know what you guys would look for in such a service.
Adam.
I would like all the available channels to be available on line and not to have to use a terrestrial aerial for the freeview channels.
It is forecast that we will have fibre/copper in this area by the end of the year and I am keen to cancel Sky. When the bungalow was rewired 6 years ago the aerial feed to the lounge and master bed room was severed and it costs too much to restore.

You know that you can plug a Freesat box into the existing Sky dish when you cancel Sky and get the majority of the Freeview channels through that ? If the Sky dish has a dual or quad LNB then you can use 2 or 4 Freesat boxes on the one dish

Or just Continue to use the Sky box. You'll still get all the FTA channels and the few FTV that still exist, you just won't be able to record (assuming its a + box)

Six pages of comment about a plusnet version of BT vision. Strikes me there was a lot of interest by everyone except Plusnet. Is a service looking likely?
Bottom line:
My BB, Phone and TV costs are way out of hand. The recent ludicrous football deal by sky appalled me as I have to subsidise the football just to watch rugby. As a result of this I decided to look into alternatives.
By switching my plusnet broadband, BT sport and phone and my sky+HD/sports to a BT BB/Phone/TV package will save me nearly £600pa that's nearly £50pcm!!!! Not an insignificant saving.
Now, I don't want to leave plusnet but I have to admit it's tempting to move everything to BT
So, I'll repeat the question:
Is Plusnet going to introduce there own version of BT vision or something better? If not, this is one loyal customer ( been with you since 1998 ) who is likely to move on. Sorry.
I love pn but sometimes the wheels grind slowly.
