Re: bye bye plus.net

Hi Matt,  don't think the Thompson router supplied by PN reports interleaving state.  I think the only way for me to tell would be to inspect errors, which were last night: after a reboot:
FEC Errors (Up/Down): 0 / 0
CRC Errors (Up/Down): 0 / 65
HEC Errors (Up/Down): 0 / 39
So with the amount of CRC / HRC errors and the lack of FEC errors I think that means that interleaving was off.  Not checked this morning, currently earning a crust, will check after work.  Undecided

Re: bye bye plus.net

Matt, just a thought, if interleaving has been turned on, do I need a re-sync for the router to pick up on this?  Huh

Re: bye bye plus.net

It might be worth it, it might update the systems that we can see and therefore show as on on a line test. Let me know when you've had chance to and I'll test and confirm (and chase BT if not).

Bit worried about that loss of signal (not seen since connection was fixed) and the amount of errors.  Might this have something to do with the insulation fault 600 meters downstream from the cabinet reported by BT "Engineer" number two?  Just a thought!

Don't bother about FEC errors - these are the ones which interleaving fixed

Re: bye bye plus.net

@Oldjim,  realise that and those are not the ones I'm worried about:
DSL Connection
Link Information

DSL Type: G.992.1 annex A
Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 448 / 1,344

Loss of Signal (Local/Remote): 1 / 0   Cry
Loss of Power (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
Loss of Link (Remote): 0
Error Seconds (Local/Remote): 8 / 0
FEC Errors (Up/Down): 4 / 99,222
CRC Errors (Up/Down): 4 / 1,000  Cry
HEC Errors (Up/Down): 3 / 840  Cry
These errors which (possibly) caused the loss of framing / signal which may (if sufficient) lead to loss of connection leading to syncing at a lower speed, and then back to square one!  Crazy

Re: bye bye plus.net

Sadly I think it will be the same wherever you go, due to BT's DLM. Sad
(except the support and communication may well be worse)
Unless you have some LLU or cable options........ Undecided

Mobile broadband is a serious option now in many areas for some types of user - probably not gaming though.

Re: bye bye plus.net

When you consider I had a connection with 920Kbps download, then lost all connection, then got the connection back at 920Kbps only again for it to fail, this company should be able to provide a consistent service for the amount of money they are taking from us each month.  If not, get te!  Crazy

Re: bye bye plus.net

Hi Dawnrider,
Well your connection has been ongoing the full weekend and your line profile has actually increased from 1000 to 1250, so getting interleaving on has definitely helped. I suspect the slow speeds you've unfortunately had over the weekend were a result of the two problems we had on Friday (referenced as IDs 60522 and 60523 on the following page: http://usertools.plus.net/status/archive)
We're working on getting the network back into balance however this is never something that happens instantly, however rebooting the router in order to connect to a different gateway could well help.
Hope that does make things better for you, and sorry about that.
If you have any more problems please drop me an email and I'll look into it straight away for you.
