Re: Plusnet Hub One

good to know for future proofing.
my FTTC cab is about 100 feet away from the house, and the pole even closer (at the bottom of the back garden), and it's a Huawei cab

Re: Plusnet Hub One

This is maddening. Had Fibre enabled last week & installed the Hub One, and since then I've had endless problems with bits of kit not connecting or disconnecting.
All the kit was absolutely fine on ADSL with an Asus router, not one single solitary glitch for over 2 years. But now? Wow.
1st Apple mobiles & iPads dropped connections & wouldn't reconnect without restarting. Solved (hopefully) by separating the 2.4 & 5 bandwidths, which are bizzarely synced by default.
Next the house heating hub (ethernet), failed to connect. Still not resolved fully, and it needs powered off & back on again daily if we don't want to either freeze or roast randomly.
Next the mobile phone signal box (ethernet). Fails to connect intermittently & needs powered off & on daily.
And now the Roku stick, which had been working OK, has been given the boot as well. It sees the wifi network, passes it's test to connect to the wifi network, but isn't being assigned an IP, so fails to connect. All available cures including secret Roku menus to disable pings have so far failed.
Are any tests carried out on these 'modems' before they get sent out? I'm really, really, struggling to believe they are.
Edit: Ok, Got the Roku sorted. After watching strings of "Lease requested" in the log, I assigned it a static IP & it connected immediately. Something not healthy with DHCP?

Re: Plusnet Hub One

Been using Hub One for a week now and it's proving quite stable.
I mainly use Roku HDMI Streaming Stick and have noticed that, as I haven't fiddled about, it connects to either CH11 ( 2.4Ghz) or CH44 ( 5Ghz) when I switch on - not really a problem.

Re: Plusnet Hub One

I found the http://www.vwlowen.co.uk/RouterStatsHub/routerstatshub.htm worked fine with the hub one.
Hub one was very stable for the two weeks that I had it installed. However the wireless, although much improved, was not strong enough to spread from my garden office into my home.  I have swapped for a Netgear D7800 which has a much better signal spread. Still learning to use it though 

Re: Plusnet Hub One

I've had the Hub One plugged in for over 60 days and has been pretty stable,

Some of the macs had issues with wireless, which seems to be well reported, and the answer is to split the 2.4 and 5Ghz networks.

Any update on pricing for existing subscribers.

Well I just called them up, managed to get one for free (for a new 18 month contract).

Re: Plusnet Hub One

Well arrived yesurday, and I set it up this morning.  Seems to be very good.  Seems to work a lot better than my previous attemt into dual band with the TP-Link Archer C7.  It's nice to have a all in one box.  Not tested the 5GHz band yet.

Re: Plusnet Hub One

I advise that you change the ident so that the 2G and 5G ones are different - so you know what you are loning into.
I have found the 5G band empty around me so no interference and its faster

Re: Plusnet Hub One

How do you change the two bands to be different?

Re: Plusnet Hub One

What I did with HH4 I was using with adsl and have now done with Hub One is to simply add a 5 to SSID to denote 5Ghz channel  Smiley

Re: Plusnet Hub One

Personally I don't see any point in changing the SSID of one of the Bands unless it's giving you a specific problem. If you have devices that can connect to either band, you have to have different settings on them for each band to enable them to connect to whichever is giving the best signal at the time. Remember that the 5Ghz signal will not penetrate as well as the 2.4GHz so won't necessarily give you optimum results. It all depends on your location and building structure.
