Recommendations email hosting

I have a domain hosted by PlusNet. We have 5 mailboxes associated with my domain (used for a mixture of IMAP and POP) and keep bumping against the PlusNet 1GB mailbox storage limit. I'm happy with the PlusNet service but need more storage space so I need to move to a different email provider that will give us more storage space. Can anyone recommend one? My tech knowledge is low, so I'm ideally after one that can automate the whole transfer. Thanks for your help.

Re: Recommendations email hosting

@KAR I use Mythic Beasts to host email for my domains https://www.mythic-beasts.com/hosting

They are good value where you need multiple mailboxes and/or multiple domains since both are unlimited (subject to the overall storage space ). The basic email only gives 2GB and costs £20/yr if paid annually. For more space the Web 25 gives 5GB and webspace.

I don't think they can provide automation of the transfer but there's a useful guide here https://www.mythic-beasts.com/support/domains/transfer-no-downtime

Note that your domain hosted at Plusnet shares the native <account>,plus.com mailboxes, so when transferring the domain , any existing IMAP mailboxes will still be accessible via that for copying to the new mail host.

The mixed use of POP3 clients is likely to add a deal of complexity to the process which you will need to manage for yourself. Some people introduce the use of POP3 as a lazy way of managing the email server storage challenge; invariably it does not work (as you are finding) and becomes a significant consideration when migrating providers.

You will also need to plan how you move the mailbox contents. There are various tools available to sync the contents of IMAP mailboxes between different providers.

@MisterW - do you have that useful link please? (Not at my desk at present.)
