Resize/Resample quality query

Using IRFANVIEW, to resize some .jpg pics to increase the mpx count

On the resize box there is a Resample area with various methods listed.

RESIZE RESAMPLE.png

As you can see, Lanczos ( slowest ) is selected.   I am assuming, as it is the slowest that it would give the best quality in the resample.

Would that be a correct assumption, or is there a better quality option in the list showing ?Huh

Re: Resize/Resample quality query

With regard to the mpx count...  that has been solved !. but I would still like to know about the quality of those listed.

Thanks

Re: Resize/Resample quality query

Fix
As a rule of thumb the quality does increase as you go down the list. The more nuanced answer is that it’s very much dependent on the picture/photo in use and depending on the contents you may actually get a “better” result from one of the other algorithms.
That's RPM to you!!

Re: Resize/Resample quality query

@RPMozley  ok Thanks for that .... I have tried  different options, from time to tim..... but have never noticed any difference on my screen. ( 17inch laptop )  maybe it shows better on more sophisticated/powerful monitors.

I`ll leave it at the default. Smiley

Thanks Wink
