Re: full fibre - seem to have an Ethernet restriction

I run an old Mac 2009 Pro, mostly for downloading and file conversion. It also acts as a server for my Apple TV. I thought I would never do without that Mac everything was done on it then I bought an iPad Air 4. It’s convenient, powerful and does almost everything I did before on the Mac except those few things I’ve listed. If I didn’t need those functions the Mac would be sold or scrapped.

I’m not saying forget about getting a pc you need to look carefully at what you need a computer for before making that decision but sometimes it’s not the obvious ‘get a new machine’ solution.

But your computer is allegedly over 10 years old and Win 7 was released in 2009. Hardly compatible with 150Mbps FTTP?

@markinwales

Costs are what they are I'm afraid.

From what you say LibreOffice should more than suit your needs.

Photoshop7 is no longer supported. Indeed I believe Adobe don't offer any free or retail products - it's all by subscription. I use IrfanView and Paint.Net.

You can download all 3 now (32bit versions where applicable) and see what you think of them. Remember the commands are different so it will take time to figure out how they work.

Libra office does not have an email client.

Superusers are not staff, but they do have a direct line of communication into the business in order to raise issues, concerns and feedback from the community.

As I said in Message 37, Thunderbird is a free open-source email client, (that I use).

Moderators Note

This topic has been moved from Full Fibre to Tech Help as the issue isn't with the Fibre service.

All adaptors auto-negotiate, 15m patch cable Cat 5e (with connectors) is cheap - maybe £10 Huh
