Website removed due to excessive bandwidth use

Once again my website has been removed because of excessive bandwidth use. This seems to happen about once a year and I'm at a loss to understand what's going on.

Posting here in hopes someone from support can get it back online.

Thanks,

Geoff

Re: Website removed due to excessive bandwidth use

Do you have web stats enabled in the site? Inspection of that might give some clue as to what / who has burnt your bandwidth.

If it is an indexing bot, consider configuring a robot.txt file to exclude images etc.

Superusers are not staff, but they do have a direct line of communication into the business in order to raise issues, concerns and feedback from the community.

Re: Website removed due to excessive bandwidth use

Website back online. Many thanks.

I do not have webstats enabled so far as I'm aware.

My suspicion was a bot - this seems to happen at pretty precisely six or twelve month intervals. I'll look into sorting out a robots.txt file. I have a lot of pdfs on the site so if a bot is downloading them all to index them I guess that would do it.

Thanks again,

Geoff

This is an option under manage my webspace.
